The cheerleaders are awesome! They do deserve more but the reality is they are not a necessity. And they do make $ at promotions across the country. That's me and my daughter when she got to cheer with them in Harrisburg years ago.
Is Rowdy a necessity? One article quoted $60,000 a year for him. The DCC have a TV show that is currently in its 14th season with very good ratings for cable. The Cowboys get revenue from that show, the calendars, the swimsuit magazine and appearances that the squad makes. They are literally the most famous cheerleaders in the world which makes them important to the Cowboys brand. You could argue that other NFL cheerleaders are not a necessity, but the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders are the exception. Even if you don't care, you expect to see them at AT&T Stadium because they're an integral part of the festivities. I know people who are DCC fans but not Cowboys fans. They do have a following.

As far as pay, it goes like this:

Practice: $12.00 an hour
Games: $400.00 a game
Appearances: $100 × number of years on the squad per appearance, capped at $500.00. Example: a 4 year veteran gets $400.00 per appearance; a 6 year veteran gets $500.00 per appearance.

Note: the appearance payment may have increased due to the lawsuit.

$12 an hour and $400 a game? Pathetic JJ. I have two daughters at home and they watch their CMT show. Those women go through hell, and they are not compensated fairly.
So if they make it big as fashion models maybe they should give some money back to the squad....

Well that ain't never happening if 'we' equals Jerry Jones. The man endorsed Rowdy the Mascot of all things as a crowd pleasing attraction. I would extremely doubt his way of thinking would ever consider ending a 60-year gameday tradition like the DCC.

The thought might make him chuckle though.
Just to be clear - I highly enjoy watching the DCC and hope we have them until I die.

No NFL team has eliminated cheerleaders some teams have never had them in fact the Jets brought them back its a money maker !
You sure about that statement? You must be too young to remember the Chicago Bears Honey Bears ladies and why they were disbanded.

Cheerleders in professional sports is lame. That needs to end after college sports. Cheerleaders aren't meant for the schools not pro sports.

Good picture. I've had my picture taken with them many times while they are visiting troops overseas. They don't mind a hand on their shoulder for a pic but they are dead against a hand on the hip. Just speaking from personal experience here.

they can make it up in endorsements

LOL. Don't forget that there's no state income tax. They should thank their lucky stars and take whatever low ball offer the Cowboys give them no matter what their agents say. If their agents tell them to do otherwise they're getting "bad advice." Zeke knows about that. Oh, wait ....

I don't think the cheerleaders can take endorsements on the side. I never seen a cheerleader have a local endorsement.
They as a group do, as they advertise a dentist as the official dentist of the DCC. So they probably get free dental work. Or some other business can do the same. But individually they are probably not allowed to do so. As that would be a conflict of interest with the team.

Like Dallas use to have, maybe they still do, Reliant Energy as a sponsor, as they obviously do with AT&T. So they can't go and do a Sprint or TXU commercial.
Even if it is not a sponsor, I think they can't do that.

I like to watch those old crones, laden with makeup to hide their wrinkles, cast judgments on the young and pretty cheerleaders. They are so convinced they still matter aesthetically.

same article and a little conflating comparing unionized autoworkers with Wal-mart employees selling the cheap of the cheap in most cases.

Huffpo being one of the voices of the whole "income inequality" dogma...
The point is that the good paying jobs have been replaced with garbage playing jobs. Look up who the top 10 employers in the country are now and look up who the top 10 employers in the country were 25 years ago.

The income inequality gap is real and not even something debatable. You can find different places to point the finger but its beyond denying if it exist.
So productivity has continued to rise and outpace worker salaries. This is also something that isnt debatable regardless of your personal feelings towards the source of the facts.

Just like players who know what they're in for when the sign their contracts, these young ladies know what they're in for when the try out and make the squad. If what they are compensated isn't good enough, there's nobody holding a gun to their heads telling them they have to be on the squad. Now if they do get more compensation great, but will what they are compensated have any effect on me watching the Cowboys, NOT IN THE LEAST!!!!!!!!!!!!

And what does that have tyo do with whether someone watches the games or not?
