I couldn't care less about PFF's rankings.

I have an auto-trigger that compels me to respond to any post referencing PFF...

My auto-trigger also stop me from reading past the point where I see PFF mentioned.

I'd offer that but don't see Miami going for that when Taco's contract is up at the end of the year....Miami wants draft picks, so probably a first plus a fourth round pick...

this is tacos third yr. he’s under contract through next yr, and a team option

we don't need another corner that eventually will cost us a kings ransom. I actually like our guys better btw. PLUS...isn't the guy hurt?

Trade our best corner when we are trying to make a playoff run? Get real.

He is gone after this year, IMO. I don't think he gets paid here, not with the money that is being paid to Zeke, DLaw, and soon to be Dak and Coop. Jones will be the one we can't afford. I would rather get a young talented replacement on the roster than get a 3rd comp pick (maybe) when he walks. It's a risk but I think we have a strong group and can make it work. And I think Chido is our best CB. So yea, I would consider it. Not if we had Jones locked down for a few more years but given the circumstance, I would give it strong consideration.

So I've never watched him play but from some light reading before this trade stuff came up it made it sound like he's a better FS than SS. If we did trade for him would we end up moving Woods to SS?

We actually agree re: PFF.

My point was a person can always find a video clip to justify their chosen position, if they look hard enough. The sample of one.

Fitz is very cheap right now and he's not a UFA until 2023.

Jones & Brown are UFA's after this season and Chido & Lewis are coming up the year after. We're going to have to spend resources in the secondary one way or another.

why on earth would you do that?

taco and a 2nd is already fairly rich (although I'd do it) but throwing in byron as well? madness.

I would be trading 2 players that won't be on our roster next year for a very talented player on a rookie deal. Again, it's only a 2nd if they can't reach an agreement.

He is our best corner and the team needs him for the playoff run. So no way the Joneses are giving up on this season.

This team does not NEED B. Jones to make the SB. That's laughable honestly. So if he get's a torn ACL Sunday, we are done for? We should pack it in? He is a talented player and I like him. Don't get me wrong. But he is also leaving at the end of the year. I would consider getting something for him if we can, that's all.

Taco is under contract for 2020 as well. If someone traded for him, and he played well, they could still exercise his 5th year for 2021.
They don't want contracts, they want to follow the cleveland model, a ton of draft picks to build their team on, not some player that will need a new long term deal in a year

I don't remember which was yours, but there were so many along the lines of "Taco plus a third," as if the Dolphins would put any non-zero value on acquiring Taco.
Taco, Anthony Brown, and a #2.

(I don't want to give up Jourdan Lewis)

With regards to trading for Minkah Fitzpatrick, from a realistic (not jesting) perspective, I would just leave out players like Taco or other Cowboys players.

The real question is what draft pick would they really take for MFitz and what are the real issues with him?

Normally I would not advocate giving up anything significant for a player when his team is willing to trade him after 1 year.

However, the situation in Miami seems odd and while MFitz has not proven his draft status per se, he has not really failed either from what I can see.

Giving up a 2nd for a previous year's high 1st round pick would be interesting even if the player has not been what was expected based on his draft status.

Just from a financial perspective they get 4 years from him if the trade happened now which is all they get with any 2nd round pick.

They get the player about 8 months early as compared to the player they would get with the pick.

The cost is about 6M for 3 years plus the cost of year 4 which is the 5th year option and will be about 14M.

That's 4 years, 20M, 5M average.

Byron Jones with a good year will get 16M or more per.

Even Anthony Brown is likely to get 8M per as a free agent. Maybe more.

MFitz's agent is the same as for Cooper and Cooper has not held out prior to completing the rookie contract.

The Cowboys are hopefully picking very late in the round making it almost a 3rd round pick.

The agent is the one seeking the trading partner which could be good for the Cowboys if the Cowboys are really interested.

The downside is the player's reluctance to play certain positions, primarily Strong Safety.

He is not quite typical SS size but he often played up near the line in college and looked much more like he could play SS than 2019 fan favorite Juan Thornhill.

Taking defensive players for granted wont get us anywhere. Brady wasnt breaking records last SB, he didnt even get to 300 yards. Their RB didnt rush for 100 yards either.
