I can't stand dreaming I am awake then I wake up and can't get back to sleep to dream I am asleep. Those that think I am actually asleep when I am awake might be onto something. My wife said I am a dreamer and I said "sure I am, but asleep or awake"? She said "does it really matter"?

Ya know those stories about out of body experiences people tell? Like they're hovering above themselves during a surgery and aware of what's going on? I'd like to hover above myself just once while I am sleeping to make sure that I am. I don't know for sure that I've ever been asleep. Damn dreams could just be figments while I am standing in the corner with a broom and a hammer watching the closet door.

And just what the hell are 40 winks? Who stayed up to watch and decided that was the magic number? If you snuck into someone's bedroom to steal their jewelry, shined the flashlight over and they were winking at you, would you hang around to count? I'd assume they were expecting me and not on number 24 and get the hell out.

And what diabolical mind thought up counting sheep? Have you ever seen a flock of sheep? They move around, they don't stand still so you can count them. And what's with this shepherd nonsense? Sheep are not a herd, they're a flock, why aren't they called shepflocks?

It's just these kind of thoughts that keep me up at night, a flock of thoughts.....that I just can't herd.

Depends on whether a service has been provided and after the revelation about Mario Batali stealing tips from his waitstaff, I ask about where the tip jar money goes. I do not assume that it goes to the cook staff that we seldom see.

I also tip if something is exceptional like the donut place I go when I head to Austin to see the grandkids. They have the best donuts and are very conscientious about the cleanliness of their restaurant.

I have this friend that I will not go to a restaurant with and he's a former restaurant owner. He will low tip or no tip and then reprimand the person telling them how to do their job. I will reward really good service and attiude but I don't low tip if the service wasn't good, these people get next to nothing in hourly pay and are tip dependent.

I have another friend that did something I'd not thought about, he also owned a very successful restaurant. He always asks the owner/manager if the waitstaff splits tips and if they do, he asks him if he can tip his usual of 25% for the split but give more than that directly to the waiter. He said if it's a fine dining restaurant, if the minimum for split is met, he's never been told he couldn't do that and they arrange that.

I’ve just gotten aggravated at the mere practice of asking for a tip “just cuz.”

When you walk up to a register and order a sandwich, coffee, or whatever, you’re paying for that item and part of the presumed cost is the labor it takes to make it.

What you’re really doing is asking for a tip for the bare minimum of what you can do to perform a retail transaction.

I am a generous tipper, been there myself in the restaurant business and know what they go through. But, there are two recent incidents that I’m shaking my head at:

1. Took the dogs to get nails clipped at Petco, the CC voucher has a tip space now. I was shocked but tipped anyways.

2. Took the kids to Dave & Busters. We walked up to the register to buy two cards, bill was like $75. That is it, bought two lousy cards that took a minute and sure enough, they expect a tip on that too. I’m sorry but not giving an extra $10 for that.....ridiculous.

Again I agree to an extent. When I go to McDonald's or say Burger King and I pay by credit card, even if there is a line for a tip, there will not be one. I'll be darned to give a tip that goes in the Managers or Owners pocket for not having any part in making my meal. Same goes for going to The Cheesecake Factory and tipping for buying 5 gift cards to give out to friends or family. Tipping someone to ring up my total just seems crazy to me. Not happening. Cashiers make a decent wage for what they do. It's the guys and gals slaving in the back I would offer a tip to.

Now if we are talking servers, bartenders, drivers, even my hair stylist, best believe I take care of these people because they take care of me.

Exactly.

I think I’m a generous tipper too. I’d even admit to tipping when I’ve gotten poor service out of guilt.

But in the scenario you and I have both brought up I’m finding it more offensive to be asked for extra money for no reason. I’m just waiting to be confronted by someone to be able to tell them “you realize you are doing the bare minimum requirement for this transaction to happen and me patronize your business...you aren’t doing above and beyond to deserve any added monetary reward.”

Overuse of anointing oil in the game day thread last Sunday regarding a particular OC calling plays.

:p
Don't worry, first loss and they'll want him beaten to death using Garrett as the bat.

I really laughed at the number of times the word "genius" was used for Kellen the Young.

Oh that is what that was..... I thought it was A&D ointment for Garrett being butt hurt over all the love Moore got for our game plan. Garrett still insists it was a collective game plan by Dak, Moore, and himself.... LMAO

Thank you for setting me right.... Did not know it was anointing oil.... Sure was a lot of it though....

Slayer would sound better on that sound system. :)

You should look for a new job. The only reason I go into any church is if it has some type of architectural significance.

And it would be less crowded in the church, so less mopping.
