Breaded cube steak beat to death with a mallet, mostly round steak. They make great sammiches. But it's got to be tenderized and not all restaurants do a good job of that.

The one that threw me was the first time I saw chicken fried chicken on a menu, I asked the waitress and she just shrugged and said "it's fried chicken". I thought maybe they have some chickens turned traitors back in the kitchen in little chef outfits frying up the flock. Probably not, but I stayed with that visual for a while anyway.

Yeah it’s just fried chicken breast without the bone..

It aint chicken, just battered like fried chicken. You got to be somewhat careful where you order it, cause it isn't a choice cut of meat. If you peel up the batter, you'll see it's been beat to heck trying to tenderize it some.

Hold on there Pilgrim.. Fried chicken typically has a crispy crust type batter, chicken fried steak is usually smoother although some places will add crackers to the batter...

Chef I know told me that round steak has the best natural flavor of all steaks but they have to tenderize it and then some. My Mom didn't do that when I was young and I grew up not liking steak at all. It was like eating "the blob", damn thing just kept growing.

Some use ribeyes but those are unsuitable for serving as a steak and not the ones you would get in a high end steakhouse.

This is the best thread every week. How can you not love food and get along with your cowboy family. No one complains
May be the only thread without complaints although several are starting to show their fangs at Rajat and his holier than thou attitude. That's why I volunteered to drink for him, to take the heat off him. Hope he's not a mean drunk, the neighbors won't buy me blaming a guy named Rajat.

He lives in Vermont, nuff said...
Funny, but I never think cattle when somebody talks about the East. Seafood bigtime.
I actually ran to NY right after I got out of high school. Only lasted about 1 1/2 years before the 24/7 crowds got old on me, but being 18 from a town of 1500 I really needed it.
