Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said a new deal for Prescott was "imminent" last week, though apparently that's not the case as contract talks have stalled between the two sides with a resolution not expected in the "foreseeable future." Per Rapoport, the holdup may have to do with Prescott's desire for a short-team deal that would allow him to cash in "sooner." For his part, Prescott was brilliant against the Giants in Week 1, slinging 405 yards and four touchdowns in his first game under OC Kellen Moore.

I hate the way NFL contracts are. Dak's people know the NFL is going to have more cash streams soon, in addition, salaries keep going up and up... so lets sign a 4 year deal, break the bank, and then get a new deal in 3 or 4 more years and do it all over again. Teams in the NFL better start standing up to these players, or they are in big trouble.

The league is raking in billions every year and players get less than half of it. Teams are just fine.

If the salary cap is an issue teams have themselves to blame. They wanted it, and it's their job to manage it.

Jerry should be firm on the long term deal, history has thought him a short term deal will cause you immense problems down the line with regards to Cap.

The only reason a starter should sign is because of the guaranteed money. It's a risky career so you have to lock up some money. Other than that all good players should want short contracts.

I have to say I’ve never really been sold on Dak as a pure passer of the football, but, I truly admire the guy for wanting to prove he is worth the money that he feels he’s worth. I hope for his sake and the sake of Cowboys fans as well that he is right. And if he is, then by all means, back up the brinks truck, JJ.

Just don't fill it all the way up.

We could really show him. Refuse to pay him and start Cooper Rush or Drew Henson or Ryan Leaf or whoever stumbles into The Star

Who's worried? It's just easier to voice our opinions on this than obscure X & O stuff halfway thru 2nd quarter.

This idea can also hurt you too. If in the 3rd or 4th year you stink it up or get injured then the teams might not sign you. That is why the guarantee money is so important.

I never said that teams were hurting for money... im talking about these players holding out, telling teams they will not play for certain teams if drafted, players are absolutely dictating to teams... that is what I am talking about. Lets use Zeke as an example. His deal is now 7 years, correct? WEll lets say Zeke has an Emmitt 1995 type season where he scores 24 TDs, rushes for 1800 yards, has another 6 yards receiving... and lets say this is the 2021 season. You tthink Zeke will be reporting to camp the following year? After he watches Kamara get a bigger deal than his? This is what I am talking about. Teams need to absolutely draw the line in the sand and stop caving to player demands.

Its a tough spot, especially since it is the QB position. We all know how important it is to try and balance that ONE position with the rest of the teams cap. I wish the NFL would get creative with the cap like the NBA does, and make the QB position not even be on the cap. Kind of like the Brids rights works in the nba. The QB position just kills teams.

Enough with the constant regurgitation day after day, week after week about Daks contract, he's under contract and the cowboys and Dak will come to a long term deal, whether it's this week or next month or after the season, stop worrying about it..

ENOUGH>?????? this is so simple for you to stop the regurgitation..... when you see a thread that has a title that is dealing with Dak's contract. Have some self control.... dont push the button. Problem solved.

Cowboys love to lock you up forever.
Prescott wants another chance at the pie in 5 years or so.
