I need perspective about last week's game

I didn't get to see last weeks win against the Giants, was out in the wilderness on a camping/fishing vacation. From what I've seen from the box score the offense was great but the defense was definitely not.
I saw some replays of the TD passes & it looked like the WR's were WIDE OPEN. I guess my questions are:

1. Was our passing game that good or is the Giants defense that bad? Was our offensive scheme significantly different than in the past?
2. Is our defensive line mediocre? Only 1 sack and Barkley ran pretty good, though not that many touches. I'm surprised Manning and his receivers had as much yardage as they did.

I realize a box score and seeing just a few replays doesn't really paint a full picture, I'd appreciate some perspective from those of you that did see the whole game.

Thanks.

- Scheme was brilliant. Guys we’re wide open all game. Dak was pretty accurate as well. Giants secondary isn’t the best but we still looked great. The throws Dak missed players on last season, he seems to be completing now.

2. Is our defensive line mediocre? Only 1 sack and Barkley ran pretty good, though not that many touches. I'm surprised Manning and his receivers had as much yardage as they did.
- Look at points given up. Barkley is a top 3 back in this league. Engram is a top 8 TE in this league. We don’t sack Eli often because he typically gets rid of the ball in under two seconds. They had a couple of big chunk plays to Barkley and Latimer that inflated those numbers.

The Giants did score at the end of the game when it didn’t amount to anything significant so we technically gave up a TD right away and kept Eli in check the remainder of the way. Yeah it wasn’t lights out D but AYYYYYY what would the fonzie duuu huuhh?

The offense looked really good, but the D was really disappointing. The lack of sacks, and holes that l could have run thru were concerning. I'm hoping they worked hard on both this week...

You missed a good game. I think the giants were blindsided by our motions and all the movement they had no answer. They expected the Linehan cowboys and got something totally different. Teams will start planning against our movement and that will probably be when Zeke gets fed

I wouldn’t be surprised if teams look at KM college days not to see how he plays but what type of plays and motions were used

It was fun to watch the offense. Everyone looked good

Offense: Kellen Moore is creative and is everything we’ve always hoped for.

Defense: Missing Quinn at right DE, Wilson at SS could possibly provide a boost, still need another 1-tech.

Add: Marinelli needs to go.

*As I posted in another thread. The D was efficient. Giants were 3 for 11 converting 3rd and 4th down. And our D stopped the Giants 50 percent of the time in the red zone. D had turnovers and knockdowns at the line. Those are the stats that count.

*Unfortunately we did let Barkley have a huge run at the beginning; and we let the Giants have yards because we took our foot off of the gas pedal when we were up.

*We did not get in the backfield in my opinion. Our run D and lack of sacks looked below average last week. I do however, expect that to change today after getting some game film after week 1.

*On offense our our run game was nearly non-existent. I expect that to change today with ZEKE.

*Obviously our passing game was great on offense. I expect that to continue.

Too many people dissing our D after that game in my opinion. I believe that changes today.

We looked pretty good. They looked like it's going to be a very long 16 game season.

A lot of positives on the offense, but slightly tempered by how NY played us.

Just have to stay tuned each week to see how it turns out.

Last year against basically this same Giants team we barely beat them 20-13, and prolly should've lost.

This year, we just saw the most dominating O performance from the Cowboys since we beat the Eagles to end the 09 season.

1. A bit of both. Dak looked much improved from last season (both in his fundamentals, and a better approach), but he was aided by torching a rookie CB. We got some great play out of our WRs (Cobb had a terrific debut, Gallup looked like a Pro Bowl Player, while Cooper was merely really good). Also Jarwin made a great adjustment for a TD. Our playcalling with Moore looked more creative and seemed to energize the offense too.

2. Yeah, our D-Line (particularly our DTs) got washed out a lot. In fairness, our two starting DEs (Lawrence and Crawford), played only 30 something snaps each (as they were coming off injuries). Both players seemed to be ready for an increased workload this week though. LBs ocasionally overpursued and did not play gap integrity really well too. Also a few miscommunications on player responsibilities on a few plays. Hopefully Marrinelli and Richard have cleaned some of that up this week.
