he was a candidate to come here , rumor's said if brees retired , he could leave and the DC were his first choice..

I guess theres still the OU coach :))

people want Garett gone so they had hopes SP would come..

There are always rumors, and many (maybe most) are baseless speculation born out of what someone wants to believe - or what the media can sell. Had Payton given any indication he was willing to leave NO for another team I could at least entertain the thought this news “might” have some bearing on the Cowboys, but that isn’t the case. Same goes for the Lincoln Riley rumor.

Wait. If the report is true (where is the supporting link?), what does this say about the great relationship between Payton and Jerry Jones? Or Payton having a home in Dallas area? Or how the Sith will win it all in The Rise of Skywalker?

Wait. Scratch that last sentence. So. Maybe. Payton does not have a real desire to come to Dallas after all? Shocking. Not.

Better question.

Why did the Payton-to-Dallas nonsense start years ago on this site before Kellen Moore joined the team?

Answer: Some people thought what Jones and Payton may never have considered strongly in the first place.

Well ****, I dont know, thought it might put a hitch in the plans of him coming to coach Dallas when Garrett gets fired because he has a house in Texas!

Cowboys won’t be bad enough this year or next to fire Jason Garrett so all this Lincoln Riley and Sean Payton talk is irrelevant anyways.

I do not know about that.

There have been so many Get Rid of Jason qualifiers stated in umpteen threads since the end of last season. Playoff berth qualifier. Divisional win qualifier. Conference championship win qualifier. Even a Super Bowl win qualifier. And the wild card, Jerry Jones, is rarely accounted for in every conversation. And he is the single guy on Earth who could kick Garrett to the curb in order to sign ANY new head coach.

See? All the Riley/Payton talk does make perfect sense. (not really though)
