Antuan Woods and Christian Covington

Antuan Woods went out with an injury.
Have not heard anything yet on the severity of that.

Was listening to an interview with Covington, and he indicated Woods would be back soon. But until then he will prepare as he always does, to play every snap he can.

The way Brad Sham and Babe Laufenberg was talking Covington played pretty well coming in for Woods.

Hopefully all is ok with Woods, anyone hear anything on him yet?

You act like it's easy to find guys that can anchor against double teams. Or is JAG just your way of saying guys that you don't like as opposed to "easily replaceable?"

My guess is that Maliek will help Covington play 1-Tech since we have a bunch of 3-Techs already...

Ugh. I'm disliking the Trysten Hill pick more and more each week. We've been begging for a big, hole-plugging, double team taking 1-tech DT for years, but Marinelli only sees value in light-footed, nimble 3 techs.

Talk about trying to fit a square peg into a round hole.

I kept an eye on Covington yesterday. He's a load and was disruptive.

Is it hard? They seem to go pretty cheaply. There's plenty of guys in that 3-8m range that I would consider an upgrade and a few in the 8-12m range that went in free agency that I would love to have signed.

That's just what they say because Marinelli and by association, the Cowboys put no effort into upgrading the position. So we have what we have. Nick Hayden, Cedric Thornton (blink and you missed him), Stephen Paea, and Woods.

But I will say this, I thought things tightened up and the line did better against the run after Covington came in.

What do you mean I don't like them? JAG stands for Just another guy as in easily replaceable. It's easy to find guys that can anchor a double team. It's hard to find guys that are effective and make plays while double teamed. Both our guys do neither.

Every team has the so called JAGS and yet they are important parts of the puzzle. JAGS are the blue collar workers, they don't get the praise as star players but they go out and do their jobs to help their teams win.

Good thing is we get a look at Covington, maybe he's better than Woods and an upgrade is found.
