Defense is the achilles heel at this point

While there is room for improvement, I think the "soft D" as been part of the game plan the first 2 weeks and will likely continue in week 3. The coaches know their team. They also know the other teams. The only way the Giants or Skins stay in that ball game would be turnovers and big plays. No need to take risks the first 2 weeks and again probably won't in week 3 either. They are allowing the DL and LB get their game legs and their timing down. About week 4, I think you will start to see a different D out there.

Lets see how Miami does against them this week. If they move the ball well between the 20’s and get a few scores......then I will really be concerned. They have faced two stout defenses, I want to see them against ours for comparison sake. Dallas should get good pressure up front, we shall see........

I know the Cowboys are playing well, and to suggest the defense is bad at this point of the season would be a HUGE exaggeration, but the defense does not look right. They are playing super soft on the WRs and letting the backs and TEs get those mid-range catches,,,which leads to 2nd and 3rd and short. The run defense seemed better this week, but again, AP is not exactly in his prime. Maybe the pressure will be better when we get Quinn back, but I am not impressed with the D at this point.

I will say that Dak is looking a heck of a lot better than Ryan, Rothlesburger and a few other "superstars". That is a huge positive.
I don't see it that way.....achilles heel is a strong analogy...but the defense has given up 24 points when the game mattered. they have given up a lot of empty yards when we have the lead and have played prevent defense. yes, we all like to see a total dominance end to end, but its only the first two games of a marathon season, they don't give style points or points differentials really don't matter. you want to have wins and be healthy....our 4th quarters have been prevent defense only and we have given up a ton of yards and two scores in the 4th so far...

They've been good against 0-2 teams but how they'll do against better teams is TBD.

The defense is basically an unknown at this time because they haven't needed them to win the games. The Cowboys have been O dependent, by design, in these first games and will be this Sunday as well.

When they play NO and then GB, let's talk about where the D is then because they will need it in those games because both of those teams have better O's and D's than the 3 the Cowboys will have played.

That said, I felt the expectations that the D would be improved from last season were unfounded. The DL was not great last season.

it is frustrating to see the DBS are the right spot, great coverage but NO ball skills.. Balls hitting you I the heads, hands, and zipping right by you with you back turned.. they dont seem to get their head around..

Its why I like BJ but if his price is to high I say you move on , we need more ball skills guys.. we saw this kind of coverage for years like Carr and Morris and Jenkins, all good Cbs but bad ball skills.. they seem to cover very well but QBs who are accurate see your back and they will throw it no matter hos good the coverages are..

cant blame the coaches really.. we need more pressure sure but I saw yesterday 3 INTs should have been had..ad opportunity's for 5, so 3 should have been had..
I was with you till you mentioned not able to blame the coaches. To this I say NONSENSE. During training camp, did you hear any coach yell at the DB's to get their head turned around? I watched plenty of training camp video's and never once heard that or making that a point of emphasis. If I were there in person, I would bring a bull horn and make Awuzie (Biggest issue he has, and others) know dude turn your head around and look for the ball. Someone needs to make these guys do this and no one does. So, yeah, I blame the coaches.....

I said cant blame them for no INTS when 3-4 were available thats bad execution..coaches surely get some blame but not for lack of Turnovers in these situations..

I’m beginning to think/hope the same thing here.

With the offense playing so well right now the defensive intensity is somewhat muted these first couple of weeks. It appears to be the complete opposite as last year. The offensive problems a season ago resulted in the defense ratcheting up the pressure every week to offset the lack of production from Linehan’s play-calling.

Which one?
About him not dominating like a $21 million DE should. Don't get me wrong. Tank's one of my favorite players, but for whatever reason, perhaps it's the shoulder or maybe the lack of an offseason, he's not producing to his paycheck.
