Cowboys are 2-0. IN the Division , 2-0 Happy with the RB situation.

Everything is going fine. Clean up the defense, be even better.

The first time Pollard fumbles a ball in a close game, some forum members will be ready to ship him out...

Pollard should be involved in the passing game. 1 target through 2 games.

Dont get me wrong, this was a great win. Yes, you could say I'm nitpicking. But we are always trying to get better, right?

Pollard only saw 4 carries, at a clip of 5.5 yards per. If I recall correctly, all but one was on a single drive in the 3rd quarter, while Zeke rested for several snaps.

Two things:

First, Pollard is showing that he can be a productive NFL RB in limited doses. I'd like it if a few of Zeke's 23 carries were given to Pollard. We easily could have snuck a few to Pollard during the 4th quarter, if nothing else.

Second, I don't like that his carries mostly came on one possession. If Zeke needs a rest, by all means play Pollard for a few consecutive series. But also, sprinkle in Pollard throughout the game, and hit the defense with a bit of a change up. San Diego, for example, has done a great job in years past of mixing Gordon and Ekeler dynamically and creatively.

I think fixing the above will help Pollard grow as a player and also help Zeke stay fresh during the game and over the course of the season. It could be that Pollard genuinely isnt ready for this. However, today's RB distribution has always been Jason Garrett's approach to Zeke, so I suspect this is a coaching decision.

Thoughts?

I’m torn between “keep your foot on the gas” and “we cant expect Zeke to have 25 carries per game all the way through the Super Bowl.”

The league is full of Tony Pollards.

There's only 2-3 Zekes.

Pollard was much improved this game showing patience and letting his blocks develop. The Cowboys are taking what the D gives them and I like that. Throw 100% of the time of the D wants to crowd the LOS. Pollard is going to become a force as Zeke's compliment.

Less carries for Zeke could also equal a higher average.
23 is not even his normal work load.. they are getting him whipped into shape but slowly... I get why we want more of Pollard but ease up, he will be used more as the year goes on and when teams least expect it..

We still should have traded that punk.

I have always thought his "normal workload" was too much. That is why I wanted a legit backup that could carry some of the load so we have Zeke at his freshest. I think Pollard should get at least one more drive per game. Now that Zeke is locked up for six more years minimum, they can't run him into the ground the way they have been.

Plenty of backs that can average 4-5 yards a carry in this offense behind this Oline. And they wont cost 15 million per year.

Are there plenty of backs who led League in rushing their first 3 years?

Are there plenty of RBs who lead League in rushing but are just as adept blocking and receiving?

YPC is poor way to evaluate RB. That is just one small factor. The distinction for RBs is total yards rushing. Then how many rushing TDs.
