A lot of shade being thrown around about my man D-Law around here (see below). So for those who only like looking at the stats:

Through two games:

D-Law
0.5 sacks | 3 QB hits | 1 FF | 0 TFL

Aaron Donald
0 sacks | 2 QB hits | 0 FF | 1 TFL

K Mack
1 sacks | 1 QB hit | 1 FF | 2 TFL

Von Miller
0 sacks | 0 QB hit | 0 FF | 0 TFL

JJ Watt
0 sacks | 1 QB hit | 0 FF | 0 TFL

Give my man some time

Don't we get Quinn back this week? That'll help

Watched the full game - DLaw's motor was in full force - yes, he hasn't been as disruptive in terms of sacks or tackles for loss, but it isn't from lack of effort. The delayed surgery P'd me off, but that is how business is done in league now, players and teams do what is best for them to leverage contract negotiations. BUT - if you watch the games again, DLaw is constantly hustling to track plays down from behind and get into a tackle. The sacks and disruption in backfield will come as the shoulder strength improves and rust shakes off. There was one particular play where announcers highlighted DLaw's dip when rushing around the edge, and that already looked better than it did week one. Give it a few more games. Getting a consistent pash rush threat (counting on a healthy/fit Quinn) would help DLaw also. Right now Armstrong and Crawford have been inconsistent (although Crawford had a super, and important, sack in game). Haven't heard any other names on the pass-rush end of things.

I’m way more worried about Jaylon. He looks terrible in coverage. Broddus on the post game show said maybe the Cowboys need to look into making him a rush the passer and run game specialist.
Broaddus is an idiot

As I was watching the Falcons beat the Eagles (Yeah) I saw how good pressure from a DL really efects an offense. The Falcons were all over the Eagles. Compare that game to our game against the Commanders and it isn't even close. Dallas was never all over Keenum. Is it too much to ask for our DL to force the QB into hurried throws? Bad throws? and to run around looking for a WR? I hope not because that is what I want to see.

He caught several passes against Jones near the end, including the TD throw. I'm not expecting Byron, or any other CB to not give up a catch, but I can't say he was outstanding when he does give up some. He was good. He wasn't a problem. He made some good plays. But outstanding? Take away the TD and maybe I could go there.

Keenum seemed to force feed Terry towards the end. I was surprised at how often they went with him in the redzone towards the end of the game.
Most part it was sound coverage, just good plays by Terry.

Great reality check. Thanks for taking the time to compile that comparison. Well done

Its because we need Taco!!! He is the missing piece. With Robert Quinn coming back to the lineup , I think he will make a larger impact than what is shown so far and is underestimated.

I agree that Jones was not in bad position and contested the throws. I just guess my expectations for "outstanding" are a little higher than what I saw from him. He played well.

Switching to the other side for a moment. I'd have to go back and look, but I don't remember any throws completed against Awuzie. I don't even really remember any thrown his direction. My memory is probably faulty, though.

To me this proves the value of playing in the pre season. It bothers me that players are opting to not play during pre season and coaches are allowing it and then taking 2-4 weeks of regular season games to work out the rust. Work out the rust in the pre season so you hit the ground running when it counts. SMH

He was rehabbing a torn labrum in his shoulder during the preseason, therefore, practicing and playing was extremely limited throughout the following preseason. Of course, he didn't need to withhold his surgery and rehab while his negotiations were going on, so much of that lack of conditioning was of his own choosing and ultimately, his own fault as well. I'm not condoning what he did by any means, just noting that it takes considerable time to rehab from the injury that he sustained. It had taken over 4 months for me to recover completely from that injury and surgery in the past. It just takes time.

That's that I was thinking. Slow start due to delayed surgery, delayed rehab, not in camp getting reps at all. But hey got his money......

Honestly seems like most QBs are getting the ball out quicker which negates any pass rush.

I'm willing to accept that DLaw may need a few games before he is back to his optimal self. But my patience with him will only last until our BYE week.
