It was intense. And, for the record, it was a lot funner for Washington back then. They actually kicked our ***** once in a while.
For me, I think 2005 and 2012 was the only time "they really got us". Dallas has owned them. That MNF game I went to bed with Dallas up 13-0. A mistake for sure. Well, maybe not.

They got us last year, too. It still happens but, man, back in the day those were straight up dog fights. absolutely brutal smashmouth football.

Back then, also, the teams genuinely hated each other. There was no hugs at midfield after the game or trading jerseys. They'd rather line up and fist fight. Great era of football.

I went to DC on a family vacation when I was 10. I remember my dad and I wore Dallas gear. We went into the Commanders pro shop and asked the guy where the Cowboys stuff was. Cashier told us to go **** ourselves. That's when I knew how serious it was. (They had just rehired Joe Gibbs and they were all optimistic.)

it's some of the best tailgating i've ever experienced, though...i love their facility from that perspective.

It was a great environment there today... for Cowboys fans. My section was about 70% Cowboys fans, but I'd say the stadium in general was 50/50. It's been years since I've been there for a game, but it has definitely gone downhill as a venue. Massive sections of upper deck are covered to make it seem like the stadium isn't as empty. The standing room areas look miserable compared to the party decks in Dallas. By halftime the concession stands around us has run out of water bottles and my only option was buying a $16!!!! can of beer.
That sounds terrible tbh

While I do lament the loss of what was once a great rivalry, I don’t feel much pity for that particular fan base.

After all, they are swine.

I was also there, every Commanders fan I talked to was super friendly. Tons of Cowboys fans, felt like a home game. Stadium itself wasn't any worse than I expected it was nice if you had low expectations and the food did suck plus places kept running out of water and the lines were nuts. Then to get out you had to walk a mile to rideshare and none of the uber or lyft drivers wanted to pick you up.

They need to pack up and move somewhere that can handle traffic.....they put the skins right smack in a residential area

Their stadium sucks, their food is on the low end of edible, but their fans are outright beaten down. You can literally feel a physical manifestation of the words "hopeless" and "misery" walking past a group of Commander fans. I was decked out in my gear and no one said a word to me. Granted, I'm a big guy at 6'4", 275, but I almost feel sorry for Commander fans. They truly have lost hope.
I live part of the time in DC, and lived there for 20 years. this is the most hopeless I have seen them. all the calls to their local sports station is negative, no one expects them to do anything, everyone expects Gruden to be fired, their one hope was they had a good defense and that's not looking so good. They all hate Snyder who has beaten this team tot he ground..

and I have been to that stadium twice, and yes, it sucks....views are bad. food is bad. and freaking expensive. not a very good stadium experience and they are already talking about moving from this stadium back to RFK (plans being discussed to demolish the old RFK and rebuild it)

My dad always talks about Roger's last win. The 35-34 comeback against the Commanders. Didn't Dallas give them their only loss in 91??
No, they went 14-2 in '91, but we did give them one of those losses. You might be thinking '89, when Washington was our only win.

It's a generational rivalry IMO. Most boomers and guys that have followed the Cowboys since the 60s-80s hate the Commanders. The Commanders have had very little success in my lifetime, so they're really just a cute little team in our division in my mind.

My hate for the Eagles and G-Men runs so much deeper.

I was in section 218 in the shade. Our shouts for DEFENSE were louder than their shouts for offense...I had a ball. We did have 2 disrespectful Cowboy fans that refused to sit blocking the view of a few fans. Not cool

I also think they’re just a friendlier fan base these days in general. I mean one of my best friends is an eagles fan but eagles fans in general are the worst of all. Giants fans are a bit obnoxious imo but not mean or hateful like eagles fans can be. I actually thought cowboys fans at the game yesterday were more obnoxious than Commanders fans, I’m sure I’ll catch some flack for that but every fan base have fans that do too much
