yesterday Dak passed Brees and Brady in all time passer rating

1 Rodgers 103.1
2 Wilson 100.9
3 Prescott 98.0
4 Brady 97.8
5 Brees 97.7

whatever else can be said ... that's amazing for a guy who just turned 25
Mahomes is about a 113
Hey, the amazing Gardner Minshew's is 111

This list must have a minimum game or attempt requirement

A passer rating of 98 would have ranked 12th in the NFL last year.

As passing stats have inflated this is less impressive than you think it is. Nevermind that passer rating is a flawed statistic. Again I point everyone to Marcus Mariota's perfect passer rating last year in which he was objectively awful.
Whatever dude.

Dak also has the highest QBR in the NFL.
Is this some meaningless stat also now?

Why are people arguing about this like Dak is playing at the same level he always has? He isn't. He started turning the corner end of last year and with his new throwing motion it's like watching a different guy. He wasn't playing terribly before, but he definitely had concerning weaknesses, especially when thinking about paying him big money.

He is now playing with anticipation and his throws have a zip and accuracy that they never had before. Chris Simms described the difference really well -- it looked like Dak used to have throw with all of might to get the ball 15 yards to the sideline and now he just zips it over there. It's beautiful to watch.

He'll have bad games, but he is a different guy who has remedied his biggest weaknesses. Obviously playing at an MVP level right now, but even if he comes back to earth a bit it will be on par with top tier guys. IMO the conversation about Dak is over and I'm ecstatic that he has grown into the player all of us hoped.

His career passer rating wouldn't be what it is had he just "turned the corner" last year. Dak had a notable slump but his level of play has remained pretty consistent since his rookie year.

LOL 15-20 years .......but what about NOW. That's some pretty good company.
BTW......where's Wentz, Goff, Ryan, and about 15 other QBs many fans/posters say they would take over him.
Wentz and Goff are two true comps. Pretty cool that he has a higher rating than them so far.
Looks like we did pretty well in the 4th round in 2016!

Have been in Dak's corner all the way.

But for realism, we need to add 10 points for every decade back in time.
Not apples and apples
Compare current year with current year.
Last full year, he was 14th out of 32, I think

Dak is playing great! So I bet his QB rating will be higher than last year.

It's just that QB ratings are rising steadily every year due to rules and the types of offenses being run.
I would assume people on a football board would know this.

Time adjusted, Brees and Brady are probably a 107-110 or so
Haters say they’re in Dak’s corner then immediately diss him in any way they can think of. Even to this point of making up some bull about passer ratings.

The one name relevant there is Wentz.
That is apples vs apples.

Well Matt Ryan was asked about as well, so I included him. The others were just for fun.

But yes, Carson Wentz is 14th in the history of the league.

WTH.. Dak will never be good enough for some...so now it is wait for 15 seasons. Give me a freaking break.

He has only continued to get better, but all of a sudden he will regress so let's wait 15 years. I guess that could be a compliment, as he can keep this up for 12 years, then decline a little bit, dip down to 10th all time so some can say..see I told you so.

So at least some are giving him 15 years now and not until the next game.

I don’t think the claim is that Dak will regress. It’s that there has been a phenomenon of passer rating inflation over time. So it’s easier to rank higher on the list these days than it was when, say, Aikman and Steve Young played.

There’s no denying this. Watson, for example, will pass Dak (at his current pace) as soon as he has enough attempts to qualify.

Not a hater and never have been.

Do you think, for example, QB ratings in the Aikman era (when mid 80s was good) are the same as in 2019--(when almost every NFL starter has a better rating than that)?

I'm just being honest here.
It's just not the same.

Does not mean Dak isn't playing really well.

Dak faced tough teams years 1 - 3. You know this right? It's not just accounting for who he's faced this season. Some of ya'll want to pretend we just drafted the guy and like the accumulated 50+ games he's played mean nothing.

Whats interesting is that while Rodgers lead has shrunk a bit over the last few years, it’s still impressive that he is still the leader considering that when he made his first start the average passer rating was 83. When Brady came into the league it was 79. Brady didn’t become a dink and dunk guy until probably after his injury, and his passer ratings were depressed a bit early on.

Yes, the formulas are exactly the same.
Hall of Famers Troy Aikman, Brett Favre, Warren Moon all had rating of about 81.

Are you saying they would be last in the league in QB rating if they played today?

Come on, Rock, you are not making sense.

The game is WAY different now. WAY easier for the offenses.

Did they misspell Wentz? He was always going to lap those two punks at 4 and 5.

You're kidding, right? You didn't think I was questioning the validity of stats amassed over a 50 game stretch, did you? Well, I wasnt....

I'll use the "tongue-in-cheek" emoji next time..

Dak completed 86% of his passes yesterday. Completion % is part of the QB rating.

I agree, hes got a lot of zip on the ball. A couple of his drops yesterday looked like they happened because the wrs didn't adjust for how quick the ball was coming in.
