Meniscus injuries are almost always longer in regards to recovery time. And this is a professional athlete. Had both my knees “cleaned” out from basketball injuries. I went full recovery time and still felt looser.

Anyways, here’s to a speedy recovery for the young upstart.
My doctor told me to take it easy and couldnt due any more damage after surgery just could see some swelling to delay full receovery. No issues 2 hours after surgery, I went to Venice beach to walk around about a week after and the thing blew up. Dr said "Yea, sand isnt great for it as it is unstable and puts uneven pressure on the knee." I mean if I was still in TN, I could see the ommission, but SoCal?

Keep Gallup of the beach

Isn't a meniscus tear some sort of stuctural damage? Or is it pretty insignificant? Hope he doesn't lose any power or speed. I love this kid

Piece of cake. It's just cushioning for the two leg bones. It tends to shred in small strings, and those strings can get caught and cause bigger issues (ie, the entire meniscal cartilage coming off the bone), so it's good to clean them up. He'll be walking out of the office after the procedure. Minimal pain and swelling. If he didn't also sprain ligaments in the process, he should be back pretty quickly with no dropoff.

Watching the game. I do remember seeing a hit to the knee that concerned me towards the end on the last scoring drive near the sidelines. He popped right up but that was probably the hit.

I wanted to see him play vs the saints. Well Devin Smith and Wilson will have to pick up the slack. This Dolphins games will be very beneficial for both guys before we play the dolphins. Gallup is having a great season he looks like a number one receiver out there. He got open for what looked like at least 40 yards but Dak underthrown him near the sideline and Norman caught up to Gallup and it went incomplete. Gallup could have had another 100 plus yard day if he caught that. I'm excited for Smith though. I think he can take alot of pressure off of Dak until Gallup gets back.

Yes, there was a twist to it as well as he was going down...I was immediately concerned and then not when he hopped right back up.

Trim not repair big difference

All of you talking about 6+ weeks are likely off base. There is a huge difference between meniscus "repair" surgery (where the meniscus cartilage is torn and has to be reattached) and partial meniscotomy (where the frayed portion of the meniscus cartilage is just trimmed away to cure the discomfort). I've read nothing to suggest that Gallup is dealing with a full meniscus tear that needs to be repaired. Rather, like DK Metcalf who was back in 2 weeks, Gallup likely has some fraying that needs to be trimmed. We'll see when the Doc gets in there.

Gallup took some big hits yesterday. I was thinking how tough he is to hold onto the ball knowing those hits were coming. I'm not sure that's how he got hurt though.
He took some big hits in week 1 too. He doesn't shy away from contact. I think he got hurt at the 7:00 mark.

Gallup should be considered a long term asset for the Cowboys. He could end up becoming more important than Cooper.

As such, the Cowboys should resist the urge to rush his recovery and, instead, give him the maximum time to heal completely. We should want him back 100% healthy with no “soft tissue” concerns or hamstrings, etc.

Unfortunately, that may mean we won’t see him until after the bye. On the positive side, that will mean he will be much fresher for the critical point of the regular season and into the playoffs. That could be key.

This makes me a little uneasy.

It was awesome to see Smith break out, but he is a different kind of WR than Gallup. Hopefully this is just a clean up scope and he is back within that month.

Like I said...

11/5, MNF @ Giants, after the bye week. That's five games, including 1 against the Eagles. I'll almost bet on that.

9/22 vs. Dolphins
9/29 @ Saints
10/6 vs. Packers
10/13 @ NYJ
10/20 vs. Eagles
10/27 -BYE-
11/5 @ NYG MNF
