Can't help but wonder what Stephen might have proposed, relative to a trade between Minkah and Taco.

I'd gladly pay paper money to see exactly what transpired in conversation between those two parties! :)

No extras. Just Taco. Miami can take it or leave it. Minkah Fitzpatrick's performance of late (as a Safety) has been pretty ugly. He's not worth more than an equal player trade. No extra picks. Miami is trying to screw teams over. Supposed Cowboys fans need to stop preaching for the Joneses to give up Taco and a pick. Stop trying to give away more than what is truly needed.

I must agree with you here, Amigo. Everyone needs to remember how many times MK has been in the picture when an opposing QB throws a TD against Miami. He's been beaten pretty badly thus far. I'd go Taco and a 3rd at best

Maybe in college as a player in the draft, yes, worth a #1, but what makes him worth a first in his NFL career? He’s not a full time starter. His contract has years left on it. If his NFL performance warranted a first, Miami wouldn’t let a young guy under contract go or someone would have already offered a #1 and he’d be out of Miami.

Wait wait wait.... I'll correct some things from your post then lay it out plainly.

So this prospect was worthy of the #11 overall pick that he "fell" to.
Your claim is that he is not a full time starter, except he played the 3rd most snaps on his team, 944 of them to be exact, 8 less than the player with the 2jd most. Definitely a full time starter.
Yes... his contract has four years on it.... that's a positive thing not a negative.
Miami isnt letting him go, he's publicly asking to be traded. So Amari Cooper wasn't worth a 1st for a week and half since no team offered a 1st? Saying "a player isn't worth X, because he hasnt been traded for X yet" it just a silly statement.

What makes Fitzpatrick worth a 1st-
This player was selected with the #11 overall pick just one year ago. In that one year he was one of the best rookies in the league, and one of the best slots in the league regardless of year. The Dolphins paid all of his signing bonus, so the player gaining Fitz would have him at extremely low hits for the next four years.

So a player that-
Eliminated transition risk from college to pros
Had his signing bonus paid out making his contract one of the most desirable in the league
And was drafted #11th overall

Is now not worth a 1st to you? Might want to look further into it.

I can understand the reluctance of parting with a No. 1 since we already had done so the previous year to get Amari. Besides, it pains Jerry Jones not to be in the spotlight on the first day of the draft.
Having said that, if we did offer a 1st round pick for M.F., I'd be jumping for joy. I believe he is a rare talent, having watched him play at Alabama. And he likely will be better than anyone we'd get in the first round anyway.
I don't think we're done making a play for him. But as record continues to climb, so will the compensation required of us to obtain Minkah.

He’s negotiating through the media. Doesn’t really mean much in regards to what is actually going to happen, IMO.

A 22 year old starting caliber safety for what looks like an extremely low 1st round pick ?

I think I would have to seriously consider doing it...............

He said they arent looking at trading for a player worthy of a first round pick. He didnt say they wouldn't trade a first round pick.

This is the quote:

“Can’t say that there is anyone right now that we’re looking at on any team that would warrant (trading) a first round pick that we think might be available.”

So that could mean a couple things as it relates to Fitzpatrick:
1. They think Fitzpatrick is worth a first but they aren't looking at trading for him.
2. They don't think Fitzpatrick is worth a first but they are looking to trade for him.

Either way it means the Cowboys aren't getting Fitzpatrick since the Dolphins will get a 1st from someone.

Someone might give them a first for him which is fine as long as it isn't us. I would much rather have a our first next year.
Our 1st is going to be in twenties next year barring injury, we're not going to find a player of his calibre there. I'd take that trade but think Miami would want at least a 4th this year and 3rd next. Also issue of him not wanting to play the position of where we need him.

I wonder if he thinks this for ANY player? Would he do this for Aaron Donald? I would trade a first for him instantly. Oh well, I doubt Dallas will trade a first for any defensive player. They seem to only do that for offensive players.....
He specifically said for players deemed to be available. Yes we would trade a 1st for Donald. No, Donald is not available.

We spent a 1st on Taco, does that make him now worth a 1?

Read an article earlier today, by a Miami beat writer, that said there are 3 teams in the mix for Fitzpatrick and that the Cowboys weren’t one of them.

I didn’t think we were after Stephen went public with us having contacted them. Just didn’t think he would divulge that much if we were still trying to work something out.
From what Ive read, a first rounder+ is in play with those teams

I dont blame him we cant do that 2 years in row,, I think hes hoping a 2 and taco would have done it..maybe AFTER the MIA game they are open to trading..they dont want to give him to us before the game.. we thought that about ET though and it didnt happen..

** watch......

8pm sunday hes ours..:)

seriously we didnt have 1st rounder last year and do not want to do that again..they rather build through the draft BUT if we end up 13-3 and in the playoffs thats like a 28th 1st rounder.. so yes take taco and a 2nd, pretty please ..those kind of first rounders are easier to let go...
