 So the Cowboys have seen Heath's work for years, and are considering replacing him at a time when available talent to replace him will be at its lowest? And are considering some scrub who can't find a team as a potential replacement?

Well, ok, but still. Glad we're seeing what he can do.

Based on what Jones has done and his attitude not sure I would want him here.

It depends on the time frame. I'm now seeing 6 weeks for X.Woods. That could be a problem.

For a game or two, Thompson should be OK but if he has to start 5 or 6 games that's not good.

Hopefully they work Wilson into the mix during the game this week and gradually increase his snaps going forward.

I think Wilson is probably the most reasonable expectation unless Thompson looks better here than he did starting in New York. I just didn't see any reason to get excited about him as a backup during the preseason. He was kept IMO because he is a good special-teammer.

Of course, we also do have the option of moving Heath back to free safety (his better position), and starting Frazier at strong safety. Would strengthen the SS position against the run, but weaken it against the pass.

we're losing woods for several weeks with a high ankle sprain. how can this be considered anything but a smart move.

That's an interesting article, especially when you consider Trent Williams issues with Washington's medical staff.

Yes, I have to wonder. Either Sua is a mess, the Commanders really are that horrible to their player, or a combo. I think it might be a bit of both. I just know that I'm glad we have Jerry Jones and not Snyder. I think Sua would respond better to Jerry with how loyal he is to his players.

The coaches like Thompson (As a Safety).

His coverage was good in the preseason and he was in the correct location at the correct time against the run.

His issue was missed tackles. He tends to come in too hot (too fast) when attempting to make tackles.

He did play more conservatively when he was the last line of defense. It was generally tackles up in the outside area within about 10 yards of the line of scrimmage where most of his missed tackles occurred.

It is too bad that Frazier is not a little better against the pass because he is good against the run at SS.

I do recall Frazier making some mistakes in pass coverage during the preseason games. One mistake resulted in an easy TD for the opponent.
