Taking a look at this team we are pretty stacked everywhere except the D-line and safeties. We have 1 guy (D_Law) that can bring the heat but he hasn't checked in yet. The safeties are all lower round guys that are just there. We don't expect big things from any of them. If this team starts losing games or is booted out of the PO's in the 1st round again it will be because of them. Well, if Dak goes down we are in trouble also but for right now I am referring to the starters. We have the tools on offense, we have the LBers, we have the corners. I have NEVER aid this in all my years as a Cowboys fan, trade away next years picks, all of them if we have too, get that guy in the middle of the d-line, get us that play making safety....or watch the Pats win another one!

We will never have the perfect defense unless you are 1987 Bears or 1994 Cowboys!

I, too, wished that we could upgrade those area's, but not at the expense of gutting the draft choices.

It's not like the Cowboys haven't tried to invest resources into the d-line in general...they have...a lot of mistakes made and some good ones(D-Law, Collins, etc)

The DL is underperforming.

Sounds like the prospects of doom are weighing too heavily on some of us! :omg:

Maybe it's simply a good time to sit back, take a deep breath and just relax.

As long as we finish top 5 going into the playoffs and are healthy we will be fine. Defense has gotten better every season Rod has been here. No reason to believe that will not happen again this season.

D-Law had a good game that didn't translate on the stat sheet. He got to Keenum at least 2-3 times and either hurried him / got his hands on him but Keenum was about to toss it away.

Collins too was disruptive at times, one play did show up on the stat sheet, 4 yard loss for AP, and he like D-Law was able to cause some ruckus which effected the pass.

I'm all for upgrades but it's not like either position area has let us down yet.
Quinn is back this week which hopefully should bolster the blindside passrush.

Woods being out hurts but maybe we'll see how Wilson does at some point.

The defense is playing better than the stat sheet looks but they need to finish. Quinn should help but might take a few games to get going.

You're right about Lawrence. He was disruptive and had a good game that wasn't reflected on the stat sheet. But it will be nice to see 'almost' turn into finishing.

For sure. Hoping with more snaps he can get there a half second faster and make that a 5 yard loss(sack) instead of an incompletion. Was bummed to see him wait on surgery for the contract and hoping that's the delay in making a good play great.

We can bring in a vet 1-Tech to help but not trade away the draft, that’s crazy talk...

will definitely be watching Quinn and Wilson very closely this Sunday

Randy Gregory could be a big boost to the D-Line, but his situation is very unknown

In the modern world of salary caps no team will have great players at every position. They just can't afford it. But good teams will have great players at a lot of important positions with solid players everywhere else and have decent back ups too. I think that describes Dallas to a T. Especially on the defensive side of the ball, the offense is pretty figgin stacked!

We don’t need to mortgage the future. The D-Line is fine and will get better as we get some players back and guys round into form. Safety play is not going to cost us the season.

Breathe.
