We usually play poorly for some reason against Miami.
The Leon Lett game I listened to on a radio via the armed forces radio that was for American soldiers in Germany, the signal in the UK was always hit and miss and I couldn’t believe it was snowing in Dallas lol
Not snow but hail....

Don't worry. I was 28, and I cried too.

My similar experience occurred Thanksgiving, 1974. I had just turned 9 years old, and decided to cheer for the Commanders just to spite my Dad. Washington was comfortably ahead, and then Roger Staubach got knocked out of the game with a concussion. In comes Clint Longley.

I've hated the Commanders ever since that day...and that was the first and ONLY time I was foolish enough to cheer for a Cowboys opponent.

My Dad's revenge was buying me a Steelers Terrible Towel for Christmas in 1976. He laughed and laughed when I opened that gift.

:lmao:

Miami sucks but they are still a NFL 53 man squad. Take them lightly and we'll be they're first win heading into New Orleans. If we crush them early. They will fold like an old lawn chair. Give them hope? It's gonna be a 4 quarter game. I know for me this defense better not give up more than 10 to this team and that's probably to much. They are averaging 5 points a game as of Sunday 1 P.M.

Ahh, good ole Leon, I was driving in from a weekend of deer hunting from Junction Texas listening to the game on AM 850 I think, I can remember screaming at the radio NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO stay away from the ball!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then I got to see highlights after getting home and watched ole Leon go sliding through the ice to basically give the game to Miami. A day that will go down in history for fans....

Who ever thought the player who committed the two dumbest plays in Cowboys history and was terrified of public speaking in any form would one day be a well-respected coach on the team?

I'm proud of the guy.

I fully expect the Cowboys to beat the Dolphins simply because they struggle when playing on land.

Heres what I say to anyone who gives me crap over that game...

Miami won to go 9-2 on the year. They didnt win again that season and missed the playoffs at 9-7.

On the other hand, Dallas didnt lose again that year and won the Super Bowl.

Amazing how many people recall Letts mistake but not that minor tidbit. Ha!

miss, block, what is the difference, we had the game won
Well, in truth CCF, it does matter, HAD it been a miss, then game over, Leon touches the ball, or not. but as it was blocked/tipped then it did matter him touching in in the end zone, and we lose.

you are just being pedantic, when it is blocked, it goes down as a missed FG, it was a missed FG and Lett's stupidity gave them a second chance
