4. Just a good team with nothing proven.

Until they play a contender this is where I am. Hard not to be excited though. On the other hand with JG you just know this season is going to end in heartbreak. Hope he proves me wrong this year. In the meantime I'm just enjoying this.

Why is this a real possibility? Because, regardless of how ingenious Kellen Moore is or how awesome Dak is, TheClapper still has the power to make his game-losing decisions like: Punting with 5 minutes remaining and up by only 2, or freezing his own kicker, mismanagement of time outs/challenges, etc. We've all seen these things!! They could come back to haunt us at any time when a coaching mistake could still lose the game for us even when our team has battled for the win.:(
Coaching matters, especially when it's the only variable between two awesome teams!

This is why Garrett simply being on the sidelines is still dangerous.

With the loss of Brees, I don't consider NO a playoff contender. I now put them in the pretender category.

Teams on the schedule I believe are contenders are Philadelphia, GB, Minnesota, Chicago, LA, and NE.

6 out of 7 of those games are at the end of the year, Buffalo on Thanksgiving is the only pretender.

The end of the year will tell what type of team Dallas is this year.

All Bridgewater needs to do, is to keep NO around .500 or a little about over the next 8 weeks, then Brees returns. They will still be in the mix.
They have, Dallas, TB, Jax, Chicago, Arizona, Atlanta, TB, Carolina. They may be able to win 4 of those with Bridgewater.

Yes, we play them without Brees, at their house, but this will be no cakewalk. I hope it is, but doubt it.

But the time we get to those teams on our schedule, we will know more about this team. They may be concerned about playing us, as opposed to us being concerned about playing them.

If we go down to N.O. and blow them out even without Brees I will be really impressed.

Very pleased and surprised with the offensive efficiency. Night and day.

Not so pleased and disappointed with the defense. I expected them to be better, especially with the pass rush.

If the Cowboys win that game, I will be impressed. That team is in a foul mood and payback is on their mind and those fans are going to be outside their heads with a 3-0 Cowboys team coming to town. It is going to be close to how they were on that MNF game to reopen the Dome.

That game last season was Brees worst in several seasons and you can bet he circled this one to start the season as did Payton. They were embarrassed by a mid level D and offense is where they live. Payton wants this game badly, almost as bad as he wanted the Rams but that has passed, this game could save his season.

The Saints will be the best O, without Brees, and D the Cowboys have played and they still have those weapons which are equal to any in the NFL. Payton knows if he can knock the Cowboys from the unbeaten ranks, his season is still in play. Bridgewater is not the backup QB for that game, he's auditioning to be QB1 and soon. Payton doesn't view this as a problem but an opportunity.

And posters that place too much on Brees are the same ones that think the Pats are only about Brady.

Bridgewater was going to sign with the Dolphins, but NO talked him into staying, gave him a good contract. They believe he can be the heir apparent to
Brees. and he bought into it, and stayed.

We call beer can chicken!!!! Leave half a beer in the can, the vapor keeps the chicken nice and moist in it's cavity!! That's always a good thing! Salud

I Know,I know...just two games against subpar comps, but where are you at?

1. all in

2. Excited on the inside but don't show it on the outside.

3. Wait and see, hope injuries don't pile up?

4. Just a good team with nothing proven.

5. some where in the middle

6. It's a long season, they will find a way to be one and out.

What say you? Super early returns...:)
I've been around long enough to enjoy the glory years around Staubach and the glory years v2 around Aikman.

I never really saw the potential for that same glory manifesting itself in a v3 around Romo. But that's a different conversation on a different day.

Then there's the 25 or so years of purgatory we have endured since our last super bowl title. Just unacceptable on so many levels...

I say all of that to say this...

While there are still some mechanisms in place that might ultimately kill our hopes down the stretch (namely Garrett), I have a fresh appreciation and optimism around things that people like Will McClay, Kellen Moore, and Kris Richard are doing. I feel as though we are locking up a nucleus that we have primarily built via the draft and just want to see the finishing touches on contracts for Dak and Amari.

Dak brings that excitement back. He has since day one. & I have staunchly supported him since say one. Why? Simply because he has the rare leadership trait that, when paired with his immense talent, can help to create a space in history for glory years v3.

I feel the exact same way about J-Train on the opposite side of the ball.

So it's is indeed a "one week at a time" approach for me because I've been around to endure the last 25 years of up & down mediocrity. But, make no mistake, I am very excited about our prospects this year.

Go Cowboys!

I'm excited because we now have a competent OC for the first time in over 20 years.

O is top 5, D is prolly 11-15. I do have some trepidation that the D will kill us in the end, but I'm still all hyped up nevertheless!!!

I expected this team to be about 12-4. The offense has looked better than I thought. They did what Super Bowl teams do to inferior teams. Need to see more against teams like Green Bay.

I think the team is great and expect them to challenge for the #1 seed in the NFC. I would like to see the defense become a little more dominant and force more turnovers. I will be disappointed if we don't make a deep playoff run.
