Really creeps me out when people refer to their parents by their names. I don't know why.
it's because your parents should never be viewed as formal unipersonal people. However, in professional situations, it not accepted to call the mom or dad. It is weird to me as well.

Nothing in there suggests the deal is close
I’ve seen so many reports that they were far off, close, wanting top position money, taking team friendly deal
When it happens, it happens

We all know about where the $ is going to fall per year. But it's not the $, it's about the number of years. Dak only wants a 4 yr deal so he has a chance at another big pay day down the road. JJ and co want him to sign a longer deal like 7 yrs so they can control his cost longer. Maybe Jerry can talk them into a 6 yr deal but I think they will probably settle at 5 yrs for $125m. $34/yr with $100m guaranteed.

LoL...ask Jerry man.

Personally I think he's stupid enough after 2 dog team wins and a third one coming up against the Fins to think Dak is top 5 QB material but then again who knows the smart play is to wait as the tag is always the option.

.....lets hope in Dak's case his possible growth is true which in the end is a win win for all!

i would tend to agree but this is a bit of a fluid situation. you have one tag and both cooper and dak to get signed. it looks like coop is willing to play the season out and bet on himself to reset the wr market or close to it. he's in no hurry. so whoever you are closer to a deal with probably needs to get done so that you don't end the season with both your qb and wr1 as free agents and only able to protect one of them.

it's interesting that media people are clamoring for dak's contract now and asking why jerry hasn't gotten it done (booger) and that it will only go up when up until this summer everyone has said it would be a mistake to give him over 30m. if the deal is relatively reasonable, i sign him now but otherwise i'm fine with putting the final touches on a deal towards the middle or end of the season to make sure what we've seen is real. his money wouldn't change all that much imo. maybe 10m more in guaranteed money or another 2m in aav. i like to proceed with caution when it comes to big investments so they don't burn you.

he's played amazing, no doubt. i want to see how he reacts when teams start getting tendencies on KM's play calling. i think he'll be fine and his growth is real but only one way to really find out.

My old bosses kids were never allowed to call their parents mom or dad even as children.

Heck they even had to have their bedrooms 5-S’d

so as kids they called their parents by first name?

i don't let my kid's friends call me by first name without at least a mr. "first name". just how i grew up, i'm not your friend so there should be a level of respect for an elder. i still have a hard time and call my friend's parents mr and ms so and so.

Again, it seems like this shouldn't be that hard. Dak admitted he would never ask for Wilson or top money in the NFL because he realizes he hasn't earned it. And Wentz and Goff, his peers, have already signed. So there's the contract parameters, roughly. Just get it done.

Not sure when it will get done, but I have no doubts it will get done at some point this season.

I worked with my oldest daughter in a professional setting.... she couldnt exactly call me "Dad."

Yeah that's one of the few exceptions. Even then I bet it sounded a little strange to you. Of course Id also imagine there are times when yall are off work and she falls into the habit of calling you by youre name lol.

Whatever. All this "suspense" is manufactured and unwarranted. Dak will get signed by the Cowboys eventually, it will be for a lot of money for anywhere from 4-7 years at which point another contract will happen if he's still up to playing. Blah, blah, blah.
