Shante, LaFluer (who Aikman pushed for over Tony Gonzalez), and Bobby. It’s arguable to say the least. Let’s not get crazy. Still a wasted first round pick however you slice it.

How did Aikman push for David LaFleur over Tony Gonzalez when Gonzalez was selected nine spots ahead of where the Cowboys selected? Seems like the choice of the two wasn't actually a choice at all.

Maybe this could serve as a lesson to the staff that they shouldn't try to get away with drafting for need, instead of proven ability. They took a gambler's chance on him and lost. All that shines is not gold -- sometimes that's strictly for fools! I'll bet someone picks him up, knowing there's little to lose.

He was considered a 1st round prospect by almost all of the draft media.

Some of them started out that January with him as a possible top 10 pick.

He moved down to the media draft boards from Jan to April with most having him as a late 1st rounder.

The fact that we couldn't even get a late round conditional pick for him tells me that the rest of the league doesn't like him either.

So, is the Hot Boyz title dead?

That's the real question we all need to know.

Guess he will be the next JPP elsewhere! :muttley:
Ahhh, yes. Jimmy Pete Petrovich, from the old neighborhood. I remember him well. We used to call him "Pistol Pete" (after Peter Maravich) as a joke because he was so bad at basketball. On the very rare occasion that he actually made a shot, he used to mime that he was drawing a gun and shooting someone. It was incredibly annoying that such a bad player thought he deserved a signature move like that. Maybe that's what you are talking about when you say Taco will be the next JPP.

We basically need to stop drafting the workout warriors and pay more attention to what these guys actually do on the field in college. Sure, we may miss on a diamond in the rough, but we sure has heck wouldn't be punting away 1st round picks for guys like Taco Charlton.

Don't recall the board celebrating much on that pick.

If he is not signed by another team then the dead money is applied to this year or next?

I think the dead money cap hit is $3,193,083 and a cap savings of $458k.

I don't remember Taco having the reputation of being a workout warrior. I thought when he was drafted it was said he needed to get a little stronger.
