Why not play Taco this week instead of cutting him?

Give Taco a chance to show us and the league something. Against a bad Miami offensive line.

And save wear and tear on other players.

It's a roster spot this week, but we had cut Cedric Wilson, and no one picked him up.

The contract is guaranteed. If we cut him, we're still on the hook anyway. Cutting him is locking in the worst case scenario.

We'll find out soon enough. Going to be it wasn't on the field issues as it was maturity wise/off the field stuff.

Because he sucks.

Why do you think he is riding the bench?

Too much off the field stuff with Taco.

Allowing him to play in a regular season game sends the wrong message to the locker room.

I agree. The off field stuff was enough. Add to that, Dallas drafted him to be an every down player. That's what "the Marinelli contract" was about.
Go 100% every play, learn your job, and do your job.

Taco is all about sacks. Sacks get you paid. Taco wants sacks. If he were brought in as a sack specialist, that would be great. But the NFl picks up on these one trick ponies and next thing you know Taco gets caught out of position by screens, or concussion protocol when a team calls a trap draw.

He has value, but not to the Cowboys who want every down players.

He asked to be freed on twitter. He didn't want to be in Dallas and the coached sure didn't want him on the sideline. I'm sure there will be a mad scramble to sign him.

It's like a bad break-up with someone. Eventually, you have to get it over with.

Wonder if he was a major malcontent and created drama in the locker room? Not amongst the players but with constant whining about lack of playing time or not being used correctly?

As I said before, the guy had to be an absolute disaster behind the scenes in the meeting and locker rooms. Teams bend over backwards to not admit mistakes with first round picks, and for the Cowboys to straight cut bait with him despite having his salary fully guaranteed for this year, and nearly 500k guaranteed next year indicates that his presence in the building was a problem.

Props for admitting a mistake and getting rid of him, but this indicates what happens when you don't follow your board.

I think they cut him to make room for Quinn.

We’ve carelessly made our bed. That’s why!

I too would activate the kid and let him play out the year under contract.
