Taco and Rico aren't that good. Irving, McClain, and Brent didn't want to play football. Hardy was completely off his rocker. The other stuff is par for the course when you have 60 player to deal with. Some will be happy, some won't.

Agreed. OP notion is beyond stupid.

Most of these guys struck out with other teams, or even the entire league. But sure blame it on coaches.

Garrett as Head Coach:
Taco-----------not any good
Greg Hardy------couldn't play for anyone, put himself on the street
Josh Brent------demons are his own
David Irving------demons are his own, put himself on the street
Dez (eventually) --- lost athleticism
Rolando McClain ------demons are his own, put himself on the street
Joseph Randle ------demons are his own, put himself on the street
Rico----project that never worked, put himself on the street

Garrett can't seem to handle any mental make-up issue type players.

Jimmy got to Super Bowls by handing Charles Haley.

Taco
  • Taco failed because he was or became uncoachable.
  • He did NOT fail due to a lack of physical ability.
  • Dorance Armstrong does not have more physical ability than Taco.
Was it the Pick of Taco that Failed or did Garrett fail to make Taco accountable?

Has Garrett handled any character issues players?
- They kept Dez happy by force feeding him the ball.
- Zeke has only been in limited trouble.

Garrett as Head Coach:
Taco
Greg Hardy
Josh Brent
David Irving
Dez (eventually)
Rolando McClain
Jay Ratliff
Ahmad Dixon
Joseph Randle
Rico

Others that had issues:
Beasley - Complained on twitter while he was here.
Ryan Switzer - Openly complained to the media.
T.Williams - The 2018 move to IR seemed to be more of a flake out and an long term injury.
Kyle Orton - Faked injury or illness to get cut (I forget the details).

Garrett as the OC, not HC:
TO
Patrick Crayton
MartyB
I'm trying to find the player in that list that Dallas has missed or was wrong on?

Been trying to tell you that Garrett sucks!!! He is pompous, arrogant and can, in no way connect to some of these players that come from difficult or different backgrounds. Most of you wouldn't listen.....

Because we can't be happy unless we're running someone out of town on a rail,,, meanwhile this team has miraculously built itself into a contender with solid depth and a young roster with good position coaches/coordinators. Thankfully Garrett had nothing to do with it or he would have ruined it for sure, the jerk.

Here's what I find funny, not ha ha funny, with many of the things the Garrett haters say. Of all the players that have played for the Cowboys during Garrett's stint as head coach there's only been a couple that have said anything bad about Garrett. If Garrett was so bad at the player level as the haters try to paint him there would have been many many many many more former players that would have spoken up.

Parcells was so awesome. I liked him back when he was the Giants, though I'd never say it. He was fantastic here in Dallas--even if we didn't win more while he was here.

He replaced Ben Martin as head coach at the US Air Force Academy...

As Jimmy Johnson used to say, "some players just need to be pushed and prodded." I'm not sure JG is the type to welcome that.

Pointing out Garrett > Wade Phillips as a HC is not saying much. You seemed to be trying to be making a point in this thread that Garrett had a hand in Taco's failure.
Yes, Garrett has not been good at dealing with difficult personality type players.

Hard to relate when everything was handed to you by daddy and you never had to work for anything in your life. All these players worked their butts off to be where they are. Garrett didnt have to lift a finger.

Disagree on Taco. He got pressure when given snaps.
That’s fair. Taco certainly was not a good or above average player, but good enough to make a team (unlike Rico). Unfortunately for taco (and the cowboys), he has issues.

When I was a kid we tried hard to follow the rules because my Mom would be difficult to live with if you broke the rules. It didn't really require punishment per se. Just her being a bad mood for days was enough to make you want to adhere.

Now I see many people's kids that have no concern about that because their parents never get upset. Some parents try making rules but rules without any emotional tension from the parents don't really seem to work that well.

Jimmy was the master of emotional tension. Players were emotionally intimidated by him.

Mike Irvin was once late for the team plane. They could see Irvin coming through the gate but Jimmy told the pilot NOT to wait the 5 minutes or whatever it would be before he got to the plane.

Irvin purchased a ticket and got himself there, but Jimmy still benched him for the 1st half.

Here's a better question: What coach has taken any of these players and turned them into something after Garrett kicked their ***** to the curb?

What's that? No one, you say? Not even the almighty Belicheck? No ****.
