I am reading that there was an issue related to Taco's work ethic and he and Rod Marinelli could not agree on the effort he was putting in. Yet Rod Marinelli is there guy who pushed for this guy to be picked that high. How does Marinelli escape any sort of scrutiny in his role for picking this absolute bust?

From fans maybe. The old man is finished here. He'll "retire" or be retired after this year.

He's already overstayed his welcome, but Garrett just has too much admiration for other coaches. Especially the old ones. Heck, they couldn't even officially fire Monte Kiffin after giving us the worst defense in the league, remember?

I just mean measurables. He was 6'6 270lbs..... prototype size for an NFL DE. We just made the same error on tristy. Another guy with ideal size but no college production. These guys were 3-4th round projects that we took way too high in the draft.

With our draft success over the last several years you're bound to have a few misses.

And it sounds like attitude was the biggest problem, so I'd just as soon seen him gone.

I thought the Bears drafted him. The Cowboys tried to make something out of him. I can't remember though.

In the last 10 years, if your worst 1st round draft picks are Claiborne and Taco, that ain't too bad. The other 8 were home runs with a few grand slams in there.

As far as not meeting expectations, I believe Mo Claiborne was the biggest 1st round bust. He was touted as the best defensive player in the draft and supposed to shut down his side of the field.

Marinelli did as well. They were high on Taco when he came out. But hey, Marinelli has had a long illustrious history of building mediocre defensive lines.

Lots of media types hinted back in August that Taco could get cut and not make the 53 man roster. They heard whispers.

Dallas could have saved some money by axing him two weeks ago. Instead he’s inactive for two weeks (which doesn’t help the team) and then cut.

They should have sent him packing two weeks ago and saved some $.
