I went to DC on a family vacation when I was 10. I remember my dad and I wore Dallas gear. We went into the Commanders pro shop and asked the guy where the Cowboys stuff was. Cashier told us to go **** ourselves. That's when I knew how serious it was. (They had just rehired Joe Gibbs and they were all optimistic.)

I went in there years ago and told them out loud everything in here is trash

Until LT re-routed Theisman's shin. Ruined 2 careers in one game.

I think I liked the Kilmer days better.

Sonny Jurgensen........gunslinger. (some say he could throw a football 80 yards) During the 1965 season, the Cowboys took a 21–0 lead at DC Stadium. Jurgensen then threw for 411 yards, leading the 'Skins back to win 34–31.

Don't know why this leads to another little story. Maybe it the whole Cowboy/Commander thing but......

In 1989, Landry appeared in a TV commercial for Choice Hotels, in which he states that he feels so great being out of football that he might take up a new career. Landry then pulls out a guitar and sings the Waylon Jennings/Willie Nelson classic, "Mamas, don't let your babies grow up to be", and after a pause, sings, "Commanders!" In the commercial's closing tag, Landry quips, "You didn't think I would say 'Cowboys', did ya?"

I also think they’re just a friendlier fan base these days in general. I mean one of my best friends is an eagles fan but eagles fans in general are the worst of all. Giants fans are a bit obnoxious imo but not mean or hateful like eagles fans can be. I actually thought cowboys fans at the game yesterday were more obnoxious than Commanders fans, I’m sure I’ll catch some flack for that but every fan base have fans that do too much
I think for the most part, our fan base tends to be pretty cringey as well, which is to be expected because there are so damn many of us.

With the exception of the die-hards, realists, and truly dedicated Cowboys fans that I've interacted with on this forum and previous forums, I can think of very little Cowboys fans I've met personally that I enjoy talking to. I can only stomach so many "WE DEM BOYZ" and "Bring back Romo" comments.

The wash fans have resolved to lose, they are all disillusioned.
I’ve been in and out of DC for years, they have moved on to rooting for the Caps and Nats.
You can feel it, seems like the players are there too.
Gruden will be gone this season or next offseason

I do tend to agree with you on this.

Sorry to bump this/double post but I thought I'd post this video bc it pertains to the subject and if any of you guys are interested in going to DC or FedExField in the future it's worth the watch.

I hope I'm not in the wrong posting for this, (feel free to delete the link if I am) but I think it's pretty helpful if anyone considers going to a game there in the future.

I'm also kind of curious how it compares to other stadiums. Obviously Dallas is state of the art, but outside of our stadium I've only been to a couple of others like Hard Rock in Miami and MetLife.

Their stadium sucks, their food is on the low end of edible, but their fans are outright beaten down. You can literally feel a physical manifestation of the words "hopeless" and "misery" walking past a group of Commander fans. I was decked out in my gear and no one said a word to me. Granted, I'm a big guy at 6'4", 275, but I almost feel sorry for Commander fans. They truly have lost hope.

The stadium looked like a split crowd. You had a lot of company. The Commanders won't recover until Daniel Snyder sells. He is truly the worst owner in professional sports.

He used to be really gung-ho about competing and winning, lately not-so-much. Seems like that whole Commanders brand name fight took some wind out of his sails.

You don't understand the misery. The 80svwere brutal..

1982 was when I first got into the NFL but it was the first strike season, so there wasn’t any divisions that year, just conferences... but despite the lack of knowing who was our divisional rivals, the rivalry with Washington hit me right in the Niagara Falls when they beat us in the NFCCC.
I loved the rivalry, but sad to say it’s a pretty weak rivalry now.

I would never recommend eating anything other than nachos, especially if your traveling. I have only went to the Cowboys stadium when watching their games, but your traveling may as well go get some good grub and not garbage which you will get at most stadiums.

It was a great environment there today... for Cowboys fans. My section was about 70% Cowboys fans, but I'd say the stadium in general was 50/50. It's been years since I've been there for a game, but it has definitely gone downhill as a venue. Massive sections of upper deck are covered to make it seem like the stadium isn't as empty. The standing room areas look miserable compared to the party decks in Dallas. By halftime the concession stands around us has run out of water bottles and my only option was buying a $16!!!! can of beer.
16 bucks? Are you serious?!?

I attended a Cowboys Commanders game when Romo was dating Jessica Simpson (she was in the stands). It is an ugly stadium with some of the drunkest loudest fan's I've ever seen. My son was 19 at the time and he said he heard more cursing there then he heard in High School and he heard it every day in High School. FWIW, in the bathrooms dudes were peeing in the sinks because they didn't want to wait for a urinal to open up because they had so few. Hell, they didn't even have flat screens in the bars underneath. Did have great seats. Could look up and watch Troy and Buck broadcast the game from the pressbox.

They have a wacky owner.

Gruden isn’t a bad coach though.

The team hasn't had any wind in its sails since they moved from RFK stadium. Some stadiums and atmospheres just can't be moved and rebuilt. Snyder is just a plague and has killed off most of the diehard fans.
