It's called accountability. Look into it.

No, it isn't. This team hasn't busted on a pick like this in 37 years.

You "stop". Trying to make more lame excuses.

Accountability? To who? You? :lmao:

Get over yourself.

And this team normally holds onto prospects even when they perform poorly. In this case there was a personality conflict.

And I'm not making excuses. I've said it's a bust. What I'm not doing is ignoring the context in some vainglorious crusade to hold the team accountable.

Ahh....keep changing words to not try to sound terrible. Who is making excuses for Marinelli? What was the excuse presented?

Start with your first post:

It doesn't make it disappear. Now what? What do you want them to do about the Taco thing now that will make you stop crying about it in every thread. It was a very bad pick. Let's move on. Their draft process doesn't need to be completely overhauled because one pick busted, no matter how "epic bad" the pick was. Sheesh Stash.

If you need to "move on", there's the door. Cover your eyes and your ears and move on to another thread. Something that doesn't bring up a subject that's clearly so troubling for you.

It's a big deal to me.

What's the 'context' exactly? You write it as if you know. Or that it's your call to make?

You're absolutely making excuses. It's your thing. This is a Linehan excuse making ritual all over again. You can't handle it when 'your team' screws up. And you're compelled to use any excuse you can dream up in an effort to minimize it.

Of course not. But this has to be looked at. There has to be a reason they nail practically every pick on the offensive line and have such tepid results with the DL.

There are six DL (well seven if you count Gregory) drafted since 2014 that aren't even in the league anymore.

4 of which were 7th round draft picks. Kinda meh if you ask me. Even the failure of Ryan Russell (5th round) and Charles Tapper (4th round) aren't that big of a deal. For comparisons sake there is literally one DE taken after Ryan Russell still in the league. Anthony Chickillo (who plays OLB btw http://www.nfl.com/player/anthonychickillo/2552266/profile). Admittedly there are a few more DEs taken after Tapper still around, but even then okay...4th round pick

Stash, you're a very bright guy (or chick). I am sure you know the meaning of an excuse.

A war daddy peddled for a 6th round pick.

I like the move, but some on here are much more optimistic in his impact than I.

Hope springs eternal. We've been looking to fix our right defensive end position for years now, since Ware was released. And we've failed again and again and again. And Taco is heat another example of that failure. But some fans don't like to accept that.

I do. And I hate them! That's probably what gets me so fired up when discussing things like this when the team has clearly screwed up. I just have no patience or tolerance for them at all.

Draft busts do happen....even to the best of teams. What disturbs me more than the Taco fiasco is that they have appeared to make the very same mistake again with triscuit hill this year. Yet another project DL reach need pick. It's infuriating.

As stated in other threads, they blew this one, big time. But to their credit, they also hit on a quite a few mid-low rounders. Brugler tweeted that they passed on Watt coz he wasn't a good fit? Lesson learned....just draft the best damn player, the rest will take care of itself.

misses happen to all teams....we have had a pretty good record. drafting is key in this age of salary cap and outrageous salaries...

You have to go back 37 years to find a 1st round pick that was gone this quickly.

Why does how quickly he was released (3rd season) add some sort of negative value in your mind?

If a player is a bust, he’s a bust.

Would it matter if we held on to him an additional season getting little production out of him?

In life? People account for things. You're the one trying to do it. Holding someone to account by whinging to others doesn't seem a good strategy. Further it's poor accounting to bias out everything else because you're emotional.

Nice psychobabble with the rest. Don't give up on your day job.

We're 2-0. Try to enjoy it.

How couldn't it?

How is that "getting little production" now treated as a given? It's impossible Ron get any production when you're not on the field. And that was a coaching decision. By the way, the same coaches that convinced the team to draft him and overrule the scouts.

And don't try to lecture anyone else after your past defense's of this team's screw ups. Scott Linehan. Pfft!

I remember.

As if that washed it all away? No, nice try.

I can enjoy 2-0 very much, but that doesn't require me to check my brain at the door as it seems you need to.

Does it suck that we missed on Taco? Absolutely. But it’s gonna happen sometimes especially in the second half of the first round. If we blew a top 5 pick I’d be considerably more upset.

We’ve hit more on later rounds pick than probably a lot of teams too. So we gotta takes the wins with the losses.

Yeah McClay has been outstanding. But the very best thing he has done for this team, was getting JJ to control him impulses and let the football guys pick football players.
Let me inform all Cowboys fans something. Jerry Jones and Stephen Jones are not football personnel savvy and never have been. Jerry was quoted as saying with Jimmy Johnson you get 2 for 1, Head Coach and GM (LA Times 1989). Stephen Jones was quoted saying Bob Ackles taught him about Personnel and negotiating football contracts.

Gil Brandt, Dick Mansberger, and John Wooten are the reason Tom Landry stayed loaded with great players.

Jimmy Johnson, John Wooten, and Bob Ackles are the reason the Cowboys were the team of the 90's but last Super Bowl was 1995. Jerry fired Ackles after the 1992 draft and Wooten left after the 1991 draft. Johnson after the 1993 draft (his last before being fired by Jerry) told Ciscowski (the scout he hired) to stay on top of an OL from Sonoma St.

Today the Cowboys have Will McClay as Vice President of Pro Personnel and former Patriots Dynasties and Falcons Super Bowl team Director of Pro Personnel Lionel Vital as head of College Scouting. These men know pro football personnel and college scouting. Also, the reason you have Travis Frederick is because Will McClay supported Stephen to target the C and trade down not sticking to the draft board Ciskowsi set up. The next year Will McClay was in charge of the draft room. The rest is back to winning Cowboys football.

If you get rid of McClay and Vital like Jerry did with Gil Brandt, Bob Ackles, John Wooten and Jimmy Johnson, you will be back to football purgatory (1996-2012).

The reason the Cowboys let Taco Charlton go is because of his issues with Marinelli. That may bite them on the gluteous maximus. Because Irving, Gregory, D Law, and now Quinn have shown in the past and present they are unreliable (suspensions). While Taco was not allowed to play and grow on the field which is something you have to do with DL. That old man love affair between Jerry Jones and Rob Marinelli have cost the Cowboys Charlton and may even cost them Trysten Hill. Play them and stop waiting for players that are either unreliable or unavailable.

Don't get me wrong, I like the JJs (Joe Jackson and Jalen Jelks). So play them are they will never develop and we will still be waiting on Gregory to get off suspension, Irving to mellow from his high, D Law to stay on the straight an narrow, and the Mighty Quinn to play a full 16 game season something he has not done once in the last 5 years.
