Collins held a lot under Alexander, which can be a drive killer. Also had a lot of look out blocks. Fredbeard is back now though so everyone will be better.

Not a La'el proponent at all, but was happy with the contract we extended him too.

He's playing at a much higher level than I thought capable for him.

Still some will say he should be moved to guard

I thought it was Fredbeard. The guy who said he'd take someone's detached arm and beat him with it.

He’s more of a gentle giant IMO. He does a radio show with Ben and Skin and most of the time I think they are interviewing an IT nerd!

In the recent video below, starting at 3:11 through 4:12 Frederick speaks about coach Colombo's impact as a former offensive lineman when coaching & teaching the current OL.

Hes becoming an elite Right Tackle when most of us wanted him gone after the season.
this....

cowboys fans demand perfection...and they want the best player in the league at every position. salary and salary cap be damned.....fact is Collins is good, he has some flaws, but you can't have 5 all pros on the OL. we are already the highest paid OL in the league. I am happy we are keeping him

I wont' go so far to say that it makes up for the swing and miss on Taco but, all too often, posters focus on the failures of the FO/coaching staff (like Taco) and go off the deep end as if that particular move is the sum of the franchise.

In their fit of rage they completely discount the maneuvering of locking down/drafting/mining the talents of guys like Romo, Jaylon, Collins, Vander Esch, Cobb, Devin Smith, etc.

This is the NFL and the league is littered with 1st round busts, bad FA signings, the one that got away, etc. No one bats 1.000 in this league. No one. But the Cowboys aver the past 6-7 years or so have been at the top of the league in drafting and acquiring talent. In fact, this may be the best year this team has had in FA in a LONG while and they didn't break the bank on a single player. The kicker is, almost everyone they brought in should be a significant contributor. We've swung and missed several times taking a more frugal approach to FA but, so far, they've knocked this one out of the park.

I prefer to focus on those things rather than some chump with a corny sack dance that couldn't muster up enough "want to" to make a squad that's clamoring for some pressure from the edge. I hate that the guy was a bust but it happens (to literally EVERY. SINGLE. TEAM). To even fathom that we'd be immune would be woefully unrealistic.

The scouts blew it, the FO blew it, the evaluators blew it. I'm over it. I'm not going to sit in a suicide circle about it. Onward.

As to the rest of your post, I agree 1000%. The domino effect that this signing (and his improvement at the position) is absolutely huge for this football team. Being able to invest draft capital (and subsequently cheaper contracts) in the defensive side of the ball is going to be paramount to this team's future success. We have to hope, however, that we use that capital wisely (and this where the people that are up in arms about Taco and, to this point, Hill have a valid dog in the fight and legitimate gripe). If we don't knock some of those picks on D out of the park, it could set us backwards rather than forward. We have GOT to be better with our early round picks (especially on defense). Vander Esch was a great pick but you can't follow that up with a selection like Hill. You just can't. The point is to re-stock the defense, not load it up with projects.
Hill was a mistake because he was a small school project pick. He may still turn out, but man is that taking a chance w/ a 2nd round pick. He would've been a great pick as a 4th.

Pretty cool video. Collins is playing really well so far. Whole OL is.
Hard to believe many people here thought and wanted him gone after this year.
As I've said previously, you listen to many Cowboys fans here, we wouldn't have a team because nearly everyone would be traded or waived.

Now the hate shifts to Connor Williams
Disagree. Watched him closely all game long, & he held his own. The kid is much bigger & stronger than last year. You're comparing him to some future HOFers, on that line & that's not fair.

Are you familiar with Voch Lombardi on YouTube? He is a YouTube who breaks downs cowboys games using all-22 film and he discussed the mouth breathers in his last video who said Connor had a bad game. The tape would disagree with those guys who “use their eyeballs” like @Alexander

Thanks for the heads up on this. Subscribing now.

He had a couple penalties and there one snap where Payne really blew him off the ball. That is probably where people formed an opinion. If he was as bad as people say, he would have gotten dominated Payne amd we would have been able to run all game

Voch has this saying where he says “he judges off 68 snaps not 6-8 snaps” like most casuals. If you have more good plays than bad plays then you’re doing just fine.

By far and he was the least popular resigning.

Not with me. I never thought he was all that bad last year. I listened to what was being said about his off season and figured Nate was in a much better position to tell then I. Nate raved about him all off season. That was enough for me.

You have to be flexible with your opinion. When you watch a game, a few things will jump out at you but you are likely to miss alot of other things. You want a solid opinion you have to go bacl and analyze
