Why did he get a medal?

Well SJ is obviously lying because @GhostOfPelluer already told us in another thread that Rod has no significant role to play in draft pumicks or hiring/firing on the DL

Poor Rod
He’s just a pawn in this chess game being played by “higher ups”

:muttley:
I never said that. There is a wide range from being solely responsible to having no role. And in case you haven't been paying attention, there are plenty of cooks in the kitchen in Frisco.

PFF Grades for our current Edge defenders

94 Kerry Hyder DAL 51 46.8
89 Dorance Armstrong DAL 92 55.4
31 Demarcus Lawrence DAL 90 71.3
91 Tyrone Crawford DAL 98 49.4
- Jalen Jelks DAL 74 - - - - - - - - IR
- Joe Jackson DAL 56 61.8

And taco can't get any burn. Emotional, egotistical, marinelli.

That's true, and this would be the 'bye week' game to do it. Tell you what, for a team that has so much young talent, the defensive line is a mess now and more of a mess for 2020.

I think we're just early into what finding out what the line will be. The only truly proven long-term player we've got is Lawrence. Armstrong is still developing. Jackson, Jelks and Hill are unknowns.

Woods is solid for what he is, while Covington, Hyder and Collins may be just placeholders. Quinn is also a placeholder for Gregory this season. Crawford is here until someone knocks him off.

Next year, our lineup potentially would be Gregory, Hill, Woods and Lawrence, with Jackson, Armstrong, Jelks and possibly Wise as backups. I could see us re-signing Covington since that doesn't include much DT depth, and possibly Collins if Hill doesn't find his way this season. Then, of course, there's Crawford still hanging around if not enough players step up to make him expendable.

This is so dumb. He's not a wal mart greeter like some of you. He doesn't get paid to show up. He gets paid to produce. Him not getting playing time because his coach doesn't like him is killing his future potential earnings. If I were him I would have done the same thing. If you aren't going to play me let me go so I can at least play somewhere and try to make a name for myself.

Yea. I think a coach should be able to make the talent fit. Coaches come and go. You don't pass on good talent because they don't fit the current scheme or you don't like their personality. You acquire the best talent and find a way to make it work. Heck. Even Bellichick acquires talent when he can. People act like he can win with anybody. But you see him getting Moss, Gordon, Brown etc when the opportunity presents itself.

Maybe Rod should be the next to go!!
I thought Taco had a decent preseason against the Texans. I think Rod needs to retire and let Richard take over completely. I know people say Richard calls the defense but does he have complete control of the game planning scheme that will be used? Same with the offense. We let Moore take over and look how the offense is rolling. I think Rod M's time has past. And I agree 100 percent with you.

Even he couldn't screw up what Watt can do.

I find myself in the happy to part with Rod and Taco camp, the both/and not either/or viewpoint.

We need a defensive "keelen" and I do not think Richard is that guy from what I have seen and Rod is outmoded from my viewpoint.

I like Chris as a position coach except the J Lewis treatment.

Charles Haley on the Happy Hour Podcast said Taco was always hurt too with the implication he was not only soft but pretended like he was still hurt as well!

Charles said the DL guys besides Lawrence, do not listen to his advice by applying it in the games.

He said they just try to out muscle the guy in front of them, he said they should take wrestling to learn not only how to use their hands but also how to leverage the defender.

Taco was a busted pick no doubt, I wanted Watt and no doubt he could play RDE, what a blunder!

Empty places in 2020. That's my point.

Crawford is here until someone knocks him off.

Not by the "rules" that this team uses. This fatted calf should have been slaughtered and replaced well ahead of this season, the team had every reason to do so and anyone who mentioned it was told it was "preposterous!" How we look now?

Gregory is still suspended. Can't count on him this year, much less next. I see a lot of assumptions on that list.

Old School vs Entitled Youth

Memo to Taco: JAG players aren’t allowed to have attitude issues.

I'm going to start a thread on the article Jon Machota just posted. Its clear Taco was told he needed to improve his attitude and effort just to make the roster this year and he still dogged it and gave everyone an attitude.

Well, I'm not the best person to comment here as I was colored on Taco from the get go. I never liked him coming out of Michigan. I just never saw it with that guy. I tried to be positive on him but he just didn't have it, to me.

Anybody watch that show on SYSY called Face-off?
The hostess has a standard line.....

"Taco it's been great having you hear with us. But you have been eliminated. Please head back to the locker room and pack up you chit."

Well, something like that anyway..........
