We can’t compare our situation to other franchises. No one else has an owner who operates like this or has personal agendas seeking more credit than their HC for building a championship team.

Garrett has struggled in a weak NFC East. And if you think his coaching is the reason for recent successes- think again.
Scott Linehan saved his job, and now Moore is carrying the offense.
But if Garrett begins to meddle with the offense it will collapse again. And even now the Cowboys lack direction from the head coaching position, and it will catch up to them.

Except he hasn't really struggled, and the East hasn’t really been weak. Other than that, you’ve nailed it here.

I look at it that we are successful despite Garrett. He is not an Xs and Os guy and never will be. He is not the type who can pinpoint weaknesses in an opponent on film and put together a game plan attacking that weakness. He never accepts blame which is an awful trait IMO. He is what I would call a culture coach who relies on his coordinators to be successful. I don't see the value in this type of coach.

Your logic on clappy geared me straight to that question. There’s no defending the puppet. He is what he is. Any coach willing to stay with JJ for 10 years can only be and will always be a puppet. A front man! This is not a sarcastic question. Are you kin to Garrett, friends or on the staff. There’s no other way you can defend him. Or.......your just pulling my chain because you know and see exactly what I do.
has there been a non-puppet coach with Jerry? Jimmy...he left...Parcells, quit before his contract was up. in someway, I commend Garrett as he has shown he can influence Jerry (to an extent). rebuilding the OL and spending draft capital on OL men, instead of WR, DE or CBs that Jerry likes to pick in the first round to be flashy...….that's been key to cowboys success today.

Not me...……….my opposition to Garrett is his record, plain and simple.

For an NFL head coach in his 9th season, he should have more on his resume than a pair of wildcard wins. I dont think that is being "a hater", in fact I think that is a very reasonable position to take considering that no other head coach in the NFL with Garrett's track record is still employed. Every other head coach in the NFL that has been on the job 9 years or more has taken their team to the SB, except for Jason Garrett. That is not me being a hater, that is just a simple fact.
I don't disagree with you...but I think jerry going through coaches like he changes his sucks, now he swung the pendelum to the other side and wanting to stick with a coach. changing so many coaches, change in offensive and defensive philosophy, going from 4-3 to 3-4 and back to 4-3. ...he is now sticking with Garrett and granted, he knew going in there will be some growing pains and that the team needed to be rebuilt...and perhaps if not for the success in 2016, perhaps he would have been let go....and I think this is the year, if he makes it to NFCCG and is competitive, he gets an extension...otherwise he will be let go.

if he is let go, I don't want Riley......riley would be good for a rebuilding team.

Garrett’s assets go beyond Game Day. Ive never called him a great coach. Only a great puppet.

His record speaks for itself. He’s not as bad as some want to portray. Average to slightly above average.

But it’s his influence with Jerry and the culture we’ve built here which I’d give him props too.
that's a key part of it, being able to coexist with Jerry

Linehand didn't save anything....Garrett as OC produced top 10 (#2, #3) offenses and that continued...Garrett wanted to replace Linehan in 2018...

and Dak Prescott said it that its essentially the same playbook, being represented differently prior to snap and leaning more towards certain formations than others. that came from Dak...but heck what does he know about football, fans on this board know more

yes, Jerry, JERRY made the decision at the time to bring on Garrett....that was JERRY's choice. he could have gone with other coaches JERRY didn't. for him to complain is stupid and senseless and I call it Jerry talk...

I don't agree that he has bumbled the offense, where he had produced consistent top 10 offenses.

I am not ready to say Jerry got smart. in fact there were talks that Garrett wanted to replace Linehan in 2018 and he was over-ruled.

which brings up the point. Jerry interferes with all his coaches. the lines of communication and organization is very fluid and bad and it creates chaos and confusion at time. I give garrett credit for having influenced Jerry and put up with him for so long. Jimmy Johnson couldn't. parcells couldn't. and Jerry rode roughshot over all his other coaches....remember campo? Jerry was drafting and coaching and it was a disaster.

We definitely disagree that is for sure. I have watched Garrett time and time again bumble the offense. Even in years we were marching up and down the field with talent. 3 runs up the middle from the 2 yard line come to mind. Abandoning the run and being too pass happy in the Romo years. One dimensional. Being up 23 points running Murray in the first half and then going shotgun the 2nd half to the tune of 3 picks by Romo and a loss. (twice) The guy just has a horrible feel for the game and calling plays. Has no strategy.

Moore is everything Garrett was supposed to be. Watching the Moore led offense only underlines how inferior Garrett was.

A great puppet? That kind of category doesn't even register with me. If your in the puppet category then you are a joke to begin with.

You call him a puppet and then turn around and talk about how he has built a culture here. Im just not seeing it. Not in the least.

The big changes to the franchise have occurred with Stephen's influence with FA's and not going nuts in FA and McClays influence with the draft.

THAT has led to more success along with the lucky drafting of Dak that has brought on a new level of leadership and success.

All 3 things have come together THIS year. And Moore taking over the offense is now the straw that stirs the drink.

Its very clear that less Garrett has been more. Going from Garrett to linehan was in improvement and now Moore is an even bigger step.

You have to look deeper than just the offense being highly ranked. Why were they highly ranked? Garrett also has had the worst ranked offense as well. Why did it go from highly ranked to so bad? Then you get your answer. Its not only the obvious answer but the one that everybody knows.

And its not just people on this board buddy...………….Its the consensus in the NFL and media that Garrett is the weak link on the Cowboys. You have to ask yourself why the popular opinion is that Garrett is NOT a quality coach.

If anything, its you and a few others that seem to lack the knowledge to understand why he isn't.

There you have it. The complaints have moved from "Garrett can't win" to "He can't make the playoffs" to "He can't win a playoff game" to "He hasn't won a Super Bowl" and now the winner - "Even if he wins a Super Bowl, he still sucks".
funny thing is each statement is true !!!!!!!

Garrett was a perennial 8-8 coach until Linehan took over the Cowboys offense.
Garrett's offense put up big numbers in terms of yardage, but also big numbers in terms of turnovers, blown leads, wasted drives.
These are facts.

I can pick on any coach and specific plays or series....however, we can't dismiss the fact he produced top 10 offenses consistently...including top 2, 3 and top 10 in scoring....when we dislike something, we tend to focus on the negative because it gives us something to gripe about what we don't like. if a couple of series like that stand out to you, then it seems that way.

and I am also not denying that we have had bad games and bad coached games.....

its personnel..... its for every coach. you can't make filet out of a pile of Shiet...

no coach can do that. I mean who is responsible for having weeden and cassel as back ups.....GM? owner? Coaches? that was a disaster when Romo went down.

we hadn't had the worst ranked offense....worse has been 2015, when Romo went down.,....

so worst ranked offense is your perception.....

again, I am not saying garrett is a top 10 coach....he is average to slightly above....he hasn't had success in the post season and that's key....

being the weak link vs. not an X's and O's guy are two different subjects......and consensus? by whom? yes, some people have expressed their OPINIONS. I have also seen rankings and he has been somewhere in the middle 12-18 range....so that puts him in the middle of the pack.....

he has had several top 10 in scoring offenses. 2007 we were #2 scoring in the league....

and I guess his scheme is designed to produce turnovers and he is coaching them to fumble and throw Ints…...

and please provide a list of coordinators and coaches who have had less wasted drives and blown leads. otherwise you are stating your opinion, which you are welcomed to have, just like anybody else on this board....however, I rather follow facts not perceptions
