Garrett publicly supports everyone. Privately is a different story.
He fires all the coaches he doesn't "support." In the same way that JG is Jerry's guy, Linehan was his.

The staff churn under JG has been crazy.

We did leave so many points on the board last year due to just execution.

Olawale vs Colts
Beasley at Falcons
Dak taking sacks at the end of first half to take out of FG range
Gallup drop vs Panthers
Dak overthrow to Gallup vs Saints and at least 2 or 3 others

The biggest reason the team is playing better this year is partly because of Moore but mostly KITNA like I’ve said all offseason. Dak looks like a completely different quarterback. You can have the greatest plays in the world but if QB is overthrowing or OL isn’t holding up then play designs don’t matter.

Dak has only been PRESSURED 6 times this year. Last year he was SACKED 6 times through 2 games.

I have seen this phenomenon in sports regularly. Fanbases are big and you will find a few people with just about every opinion. People will go after fans in arguments "but you are just a fan, do you really think you know more than professionals?!?!?" Well, you know what, when you get a large percentage of a fanbase agreeing on something, they are probably right.

Doesn't bode well for Garrett. He isn't as unpopular as Linehan but not by much.

Couldn’t agree more. This is certainly a make or break year for Garrett.

It wasn't just this board. There was pretty regular and universal condemnation from Linehan in the media and from former players that were in his system. This extended all the way to the booth announcers during the games he coached.

His previous coaching stops didn't seem to think that much of him either. Detroit fans hated him while he was there and constantly said they felt he used Megatron as a crutch.

Honestly, about the only people that seemed to support Linehan was the Cowboys front office.
Right, this was kinda cemented last year when the team is in the middle of a win streak, and the new player who was a big part of the reason for the win streak was voicing the same concerns as the fans! Simply, when Cooper criticized the playcalling after they won the Philadelphia game any debate otherwise was pretty much mute!

If Linehan was Garrett's guy and he only kept his job because of Garrett, does that mean Garrett isn't just a puppet?

The playcalling is significantly better. That falls on both Garrett and Linehan, who were calling plays for a huge portion of this team. You can only 'outexecute' and 'outathelete' teams for so long, and the great teams will end up beating you, hence us never getting out of the second round of the playoffs. It's interesting how we are executing so much better when the opposing defenses don't already know what we are going to do before we do it.

Linehan's biggest supporter was Garrett.

Everytime other coaches dissented with him, they soon went on chopping block.

This. Jerry had to force Garrett's hand. If you remember, in the press conference after the Rams' playoff loss, Garrett was adamant that Linehan would be back. Jerry forced him out, thankfully. In fact, Garrett's biggest weakness is probably his stubbornness.

And being overly loyal. Which is tough because it's a great trait for a person to have, but not in a results-based, billion-dollar business.

It seems like when this board gets a strong concensus we are usually right as a group. Linehan obviously was universally hated by most on this board. He is gone and it appears we were right again.
You remember that alien that Garrett likes to talk about coming down and watching football for the first time?

He (or she) also knew Linehan needed to go, so...

Anybody with half a brain could tell our play calling and play personnel choices were whacked.

Linehan was just Garrett's guy and that's all there is to it. The sports talking heads saw he was garbage, the players saw it, we saw it, and the opposing coaches saw it in the way they played us. We all knew Linehan was a fraud, and Garrett the conman tried to sell him to us as an "outstanding OC" for several years.

It's pretty telling that a guy with his pro football experience has yet to land work with a team. At best, he would be a solid WR/TE coach.

What I would ask you guys ..... do you think Marinelli falls into this same category? I know I do. I’m not to that stage on Garrett though.

Game. Set. Match.

One need no more evidence than that. Facts speak far louder than anyone's opinions, and the fact that Linehan is an unemployed pariah speaks louder than any words I could type.

Just like the last Garrett hire, Paul Alexander. He's a disease to the rest of the league as well.
