Has Zeke lost some of his speed?

What makes Zeke a superior athlete today than 3 years ago? Was it coming into camp out of shape his 2nd year? Was it the lack of explosiveness last year? Was it the fact his top speed has declined every single year since his rookie year?
This is just silly. Only way to accurately gauge that is to time Zeke in a 40 yard dash now. In game circumstances don’t prove it either way. Boy I’ll tell ya. Kids nowadays know everything but don’t know crap.

But you must take into account that every team we faced sought to shut down Zeke and force Dak to pass. So Zeke earned his yardage the hard way by grinding down after down after down.

So somehow the defenses that Barkley HASfaced did not seek to "shut down Barkley and force Eli to pass."

This somehow only happens to Zeke. Nevermind that Zeke has reached slower top speeds every single year he has been in the league. Just a function of defenses.

This is embarssing.

The top speed he has reached has declined 3 straight years. That's just a fact.

You must be yet another millennial fantasy football geek huh? Answer this Genius. On each of the runs you speak of was Barkley hit or touched before reaching top speed? What was the formations on offense and defense? Was the defense in a pass defending formation? Was the offense showing run or pass? What was the score? What was the down and distance? How much time was left in the game? Was there a blown gap assignment on the defense? See, all these components are factors in top speed reached on any given run. Zeke is plenty fast regardless to what you believe. But you must take into account that every team we faced sought to shut down Zeke and force Dak to pass. So Zeke earned his yardage the hard way by grinding down after down after down. That’s what he does best as proven by his 2 rushing titles in 3 seasons and he would’ve had 3 in a row if he wasn’t suspended for 6 games. Now that out passing game has taken flight you’ll see Zeke break those big runs or else the huge bombs to our WRs will continue to prevail.

Look here. Stop with the kiddie quotes about embarrassing bs. The Giants have not been formidable at all so NO! He hasn’t faced the type of defenses Zeke has. Barkley is in his second season and the Giants have been behind in almost every game Barkley has played in. So when they are behind 17 points late in the 3rd quarter the defense is expecting a pass and he makes a big run. 2nd and 12. He makes a nice run. Just as examples.
If you cannot see the difference in how Zeke is defended you are either blind, biased or not knowledgeable in the sport. We will see Zeke hit top speeds soon because Dak is surgically dissecting defenses through the air which will make them keep the safeties and linebackers in coverage more often. As for now we haven’t seen Zeke have runs with the chances to reach top speeds yet.

References?

Sure see below. Note: his top speed in 2016 was actually 21.8 in Week 16 that the poster missed.

According to what I could find, Zeke is slowing down.

Fastest recorded speed in 2016 was 21.5mph.

Fastest recorded speed in 2017 was 20.35mph.

Fastest recorded speed in 2018 was 20.27mph

He hasn't really broken any runs long enough to be measured with top speed in 2019.

Zeke hasn’t had many runs being totally untouched until he gets into the secondary tho. Contact from defenders slows down your top speed Genius.
So somehow over the last 600 carries where Zeke hasn't had a run longer than 41 yards and despite having some combination of a top 10 offensive line the entire time Zeke hasn't made it into the secondary untouched even once where he could hit a top speed?

This despite Zeke over his career having a top 3 yards before contact per rush rating in all the NFL?

You're a joke.

A joke??? Nope. I speak facts. You’re a clown who speaks in terms of averages. Zeke hits holes directly and immediately so he gets to the second level often without contact. But he’s not known to be the shiftiest or most elusive, he often has to run through the linebackers and safeties to break his runs. Have you noticed most of Zeke’s big runs are North/South and end up with him initiating contact, even when he scores? That’s his style. Barkley has his success when he’s untouched. Which is why he’s good for a big run here and there and reaching top speeds. Yes he has had some exciting runs bouncing off contact and spinning away. But the run you constantly refer to was him running untouched until he was tackled 59 yards downfield. We haven’t seen Zeke just run freely like that in a couple of years.

False. Almost every time Barkley is hit behind the LOS he’s tackled for a loss. Watch his film. His positive gains are all when he’s untouched and then picks up steam. And Saquon gets run down quite often himself.
How does any of this have to do with Emmitt not being that fast?

If you meant Zeke then I’m saying that it’s easybto hit your top speed when you’re untouched and running freely downfield. Contact disrupts a running back’s ability to reach a top speed.

Zeke should only drop into that gear when we need him too. If he does it to much he will burn out and get injured. Save it for our division and close games.
