Right. It might be different if we need a roster spot for another position, but there's simply no need to cut Austin at this point.

Some say Pollard can do everything Austin can do, but have we really seen that so far? Wilson looked good in the preseason, but we haven't even seen him in a regular-season game so far? I have yet to figure out why some are in such a hurry to discard our players.

Austin has somehow picked up a label as "injury prone", when in fact it's not accurate. He had it coming into this season because he did get hurt here last year. This recent concussion adds fuel to that fire and provides a measure of ammunition for those who don't like him. I can see their frustrations even if I don't agree with them.

Tavon never missed a game due to injury in college. It’s a shame he missed most of last year as he was starting to make plays and now with this recent set back he may be running out of opportunities as Devin Smith is making plays as is Randall Cobb. Fortunately for us the Cowboys are loaded at the WR position and with or without Tavon we’ll be fine.

I share the disappointment but I don't think cutting the guy outright is either prudent or necessary. It seems an act borne out of frustration.

TRUE and TA is still by far the best punt returner on the team and if healthy he will show that in 2-3 games hopefully the Playoffs..

I hope he gets healthy. It's not a simple thing.
I also hope he gets well. but I don't want him on the team. always injured and missing games. i'd hate to lose one of our young receivers if they can't clear waivers before being put back on the practice squad because of Austin.

Simply unreliable.......when Gallup returns, I say release Austin and keep Wilson.

He is a very low cost experienced veteran and has not been overly injury prone in his career before coming to the Cowboys.

There is Zero reason to release Tavon at this point. His 2019 salary is basically guaranteed anyway.

Pollard can do everything Austin can do

They won't let pollard handle punt returns this year and he has very little experience in that area
but sheer plenty as a kick returner as he was very prolific in college in that area.
And tony has already taken over the kick returner role.

Since Cobb has taken over the jet sweep role I had wonder what other creative splash plays or designs Pollard can be a part of now.

Does anyone even remember the play where he got the concussion?
On a punt return, he got hit defenseless, kick catch interference.

I think Wilson has the potential to be a more consistent PR'er, in terms of yardage...Tavon is TD or 2 yards.

Overall, I'm in favor of moving on b/c last year and most of this one Ta is not available. However, I don't think anyone is on the market worthy of a roster spot at WR for this team.

I am truly convinced tavon is on this team in part for what he put on display
In the Seattle playoff game in returning two big punt returns, one went for a TD but which unfortunately called back via penalty on Goodwin.

That quick strike ability to both tip the playing field into our favor as well as hitting a quick six points is a huge momentum swinger for a team.

His fragility and lack of durability is not going to make him available and reliable.
I'm also one of those as well who think the gimmick guy will only play in about 4 games tops,as its bound to be one thing or another constant injuries with him.

at this point, why even have him around? It's not like he's done much of anything in the limited time he doesn't find ways to get injured

It's a long season. We don't need him right now but he could be a really valuable asset later in the year esp on KR/PR or incase another receiver gets hurt.

The thing that worries me about Wilson returning punts is he seems to want to take everything to the outside, and while that can occasionally lead to a long run, a lot of times it will result in running laterally for no gain, or even losing yards trying to get around to the outside.
