Ok I realize it is going into Week 3 ! BUT with injuries to Brees, the Eagles, and the slow starts for several teams -- We have a very good opportunity to get in great position to secure home field throughout the playoffs -

We have a weak starting schedule yes but thats the way things go - The Saints minus Brees are still dangerous but far less so without Brees.

This sets the Packers game as a very pivotal game IMO they are playing well and that game will at least determine the tie breaker so we need to win that one ! Eagles /Packers will be interesting this week

I would say we kinda control our destiny for this based on the way things are shaping up i know things can change in an instant but i guess i just do not want to see us let up in any games. Each win puts us closer to taking Homefield and i think that would be helpful to not only the team but Kellen Moore.

Most of the teams expected to make the playoffs don't play as well away ! and if they do play well it is still important to get them away there stadiums.

What say you, obviously we all want homefield but do you think it is extra important this year ?

One less playoff game is great. Home field would be a bonus, but I feel this team can travel well.

Home field is huge, unless we're playing the Rams. That was basically an outdoor home game.

2018: 10 wins, 7 home, 3 road

2017: 9 wins, 3 home, 6 road

2016: 13 winds, 7 home, 6 road

It’s always important! That should be the goal every year.

I feel I’m one of the most overly optimistic fans/homers on this site.

You all are even worrying me about getting too far ahead of ourselves.

On the other hand—what a breath of fresh air!!!

Fan confidence(with good reason) and I think most feel this has a really good chance to be a really special year (#6)

This all makes good sense: Over 57 percent of games are won by home teams in the NFL, putting the road team at a distinct disadvantage.

The benefits of playing at home in the NFL are clear. Statistician and FiveThirtyEight contributor Michael Lopez, along with Gregory J. Matthews and Benjamin S. Baumer, found that the effect of home field-advantage in American football is second only to the NBA among the major sports.

Home field is important but the bye week is even more critical. Just ask the Pats. In reality, it’s nearly always the 1 and 2 seeds playing in the championship game so we need one of those two seeds.

2018 NFC: Rams (2) at Saints (1)
2017 NFC: Vikings (2) at Eagles (1)
2016 NFC: Packers (4) at Falcons (2)*
2015 NFC: Cardinals (2) at Panthers (1)

*the only time it wasn’t 2 at 1 was when the first seeded Cowboys lost to the Pack in 2016.
