This second view is completely meaningless. The ball hasn’t been kicked yet. His plant foot hasn’t even landed, and he still needs to swing his right leg and make contact with the ball.
Well it is hard to look at the player up top, and the guy kicking the ball at the same time, but I guess u can?

That is EXACTLY the problem. You guys are living in the past. The game has changed, the team has changed, the rules have changed. Wake up from your delusional beliefs that those days are returning. We can have a great team this year (I believe) but it will not be perfect. Once again this is 2019 not 1993.
Guess I wasn’t clear. That’s what I was saying.

That’s(the bad calls) all over.

You totally missed my point. It’s irrelevant where the player at the top is, because at the moment the pic was taken the ball hasn’t been kicked. If he starts moving forward a fraction of a second after the pic he could easily be a bit offside.

Ok they said in the game the players had to have 1 foot on the 34 yd line as ball is kicked.
so here is a pic
miami-off-side-kick-02.jpg

I don't see anything wrong here, and even the announcers said it was close, so too me this was
either another bad call, or just being way too picky.
The guy at very top is #31 who they called for offsides, and he is also the one who got the ball.
The ref is right there, so either the ref is daydreaming about cheerleaders, or the player is really stupid
to be offsides when the ref is right by him.
But I just dont see it, I watched several times, and no way this should have been called.

I also think changing the rules on the onside kick was a bad move, and they killed something which used
to be exciting at times.

Sorry about your Dolphins, bro.

Well, in fairness you’re talking about a guy that thinks a “fairly” called game is one where we get all the calls. He doesn’t have an objective bone in his body.

Not only can they not be moving forward but they must remain 1 yard behind the ball until it is kicked. Offsides is not where the ball is, it’s 1 yard behind the ball. There are actually several players who qualify as being offsides.

The rule is that no one can start upfield before the kicker kicks the ball. The wording for the penalty “offsides” is a little obscure.

Phins are tanking and really well, they were not really trying to recover that kick. They could have 2 picks in the top 3 or 4 picks if the stealers keeps losing.

ARTICLE 3. FREE KICK FORMATION
When the ball is kicked on a free kick down:

  1. From the time the kicker begins his approach to the ball and until the ball is kicked,
    1. all kicking team players other than the kicker must be lined up with at least one foot on the yard line that is one yard behind their restraining line, and both feet must remain on the ground until the ball is kicked; and
    2. at least five players of the kicking team must be on each side of the ball; and
    3. at least two players (other than a holder) must be lined up inbounds between the sideline and the bottom (outside) of the yard-line number, and at least two players (other than a holder) must be lined up between the top (inside) of the yard- line number and the inbounds lines.
Note: A holder for a free kick counts as one of the required five players on either side of the ball, regardless of where he is positioned. The holder is never counted as one of the required two players between the inbounds line and the top (inside) of the numbers, regardless of where he is positioned.
  1. All kicking team players must be inbounds and behind the ball when it is kicked, except:
    1. the holder of a placekick (3-18-1-Item 2) may be beyond the line, and
    2. the kicker may be beyond the line, provided that his kicking foot is not beyond the line.
  2. Until the ball is kicked, all receiving team (Team B) players must be inbounds and behind their restraining line, and at least eight players must be positioned between their restraining line and a spot 15 yards behind their restraining line (the “setup zone”). (See Section 2, Article 1, Item 2-b.)
Penalty: For a player being beyond the restraining line when the ball is kicked (offside), a player being out of bounds when the ball is kicked, or either team being in an illegal formation when the ball is kicked: Loss of five yards.

  1. Prior to the ball being touched by the receiving team or the end of the kick, it is a foul if a kicking team player voluntarily goes out of bounds (without being contacted by a receiving team player) to avoid a block.
Penalty: For voluntarily going out of bounds without contact: Loss of 5 yards.

I thought that was a bogus call too........looked fine to me.

That whole crew are a bunch of over zealous Dudley Do Rights.

What are the refs trying to prove this season?

I thought they said the ball didn't travel 10 yds before the defender touched it?
