What we know- Moore and Kitna have this offense rolling.

What we don't know- Will this defense realize it's potential?

Every year about this time (with less than 1/4 of the season done) many fans watch 3 games and begin to assume we know everything there is to know about this team. We look at 3 games and make assumptions that somehow can be applied to the whole season. That’s just what we as fans do. But it’s often not accurate.

Let’s look at what we know and don’t know about this team so far this season:
WHAT WE KNOW:
  • This is a talented team on both sides of the ball.
  • Kellen Moore has pumped new life and new wrinkles into our offense.
  • Dak Prescott is not just a “bus driver”.
  • Our OL has returned to its expected strength.
  • We are off to a really good start overall.
  • It takes more than 3 games to know what a team is and isn’t.
WHAT WE DON’T KNOW:
  • Will the defense be able to get more TO’s and sacks this year?
  • Three games into a long season, we don’t know what teams on our schedule are going to emerge as stronger than they look now. (Many teams get better as the season goes on- we did last year)
  • How will Kellen Moore handle having some NFL defensive coordinators study film and throw some unexpected defensive schemes at him?
  • What injuries may have an effect on us or other teams the rest of the season?
  • What adversity will we face that cannot be seen now? Trust me- all good teams face and are measured by adversity.
One thing I know will happen- there will be surprises that are not foreseeable. That’s what happens every year in the NFL.

What else do we know and not know?

WHAT WE KNOW

Jason Witten can still contribute
Dak and Gallup are now on the same page
Randall Cobb is a more versatile WR than Beasley Better blocker also
Dak is 100% more comfortable with Kellen than Linehan No more having to force balls to Dez and other things he didnt feel comfortable doing .
WE have 2 capeable RBs
Oline not only back but have depth for emergencies
Defense is talented needs more coaching help
Its a long season
Daks teammates will walk through Fire for him . cant be said for the rest of QBs in our division, nobody making business decisions while Dak is the leader
We need and have needed a Dontari Poe , Haloti Nagta type guy on our Dline now .

There is just too much I dont know so Im not touching it you got it covered

The Cowboys beat 3 teams they were supposed to beat, three bad teams.

What happened last season, the turnaround, could go the reverse this season and the biggest question is not will injuries occur but to which players and when? This season has already unfolded as unplanned for quite a few teams but for the Cowboys, they were expected to win these first 3 games. They did so in convincing fashion but these were not the best DCs or D's they will face and they're just now starting to get a handle on Moore but will get more of one this Sunday because this is the best pass rush they will have faced.

This D is erratic and even against poor offenses, they seem disorganized. They play like that in these next 2 games and the one thing I know is that they will be 3-2.

The other thing I know is that the same thing that's happening to PHL can happen to DAL. Hell, the only healthy skill starter might be the player we expected to get injured. They get healthy, they could do the same thing the Cowboys did last season.

The only thing I know for sure is that the Cowboys did what they were supposed to do and that has nothing to do with how they're going to do. However, last season after 8 games, I just knew the Cowboys were done. Fat lady hasn't even ordered her entre yet.

Ok Im out from under your wet blanket with some more thoughts Carson Wentz is not the leader Dak is. Eagle locker room is less than sold on Carson these Cowboys will eat nails for Dak . It will make a difference in big close games .

Agreed the defense is a bit suspect but we can play ball control with anyone . Dak himself can move the chains at will if he wants to expose himself . Dak, Witten and Zeke along with this Oline can move the chains as they did in years past and just keep the ball away from Teddy till when he gets it hes in panic mode to score because he dosent know when he will see it again .

We are definitely better prepared on offense than in years past . These last 3 games have given teams a lot to think about no more is it stack the box they are going to run on 1st down no matter what . After watching the tape I dont think teams are going to dare us to pass every play. They will have to play us more honestly than ever before making ball control easier if necessary.

We are not the predictable Cowboys of old our QB dosent look for an excuse to throw every play . We can run and protect our defense when necessary or open it up if they are playing well

Winning is the agenda for this Cowboys squad and although we have not played any good teams yet I also dont believe we have tapped into the true versatility and potential this team has . If Im the Saints and Green Bay Im figuring which poison to pick they have their work cut out for them

Blackie, wet blanket? Really, if you got that, that's on your interpretation, not my intent. I am more of a cuddly soft blanket with little teddy bears and lollipops on it.

Yes, they played mediocre, if not poor, teams so everything we see is based against that competition which would be like the 20th ranked tennis player playing numbers 40, 41 and 42 without seeing them up against a top 4.

All I am saying is I am not saying what any team is until I've seen more of them up against real competition. I said before this season began until we got to these games, we would not know what we've got at this stage of the season. We got off to a hot start and that's great but I've seen hot starts turn cold before and the reverse.

The fact is the front quarter of the season is not a good predictor of what the team will look like in the last quarter as last season wasn't and that wasn't just because of the addition of one player, the team got better, including the coaching. Teams can change, for better or worse, right before our very eyes.

I had the Cowboys at #5 in the all important CC Power Ranking before the season and now have them at #3 and with a win in NO, they can get to #2, which I know is important to the posters here and the team as well because my Power Ranking is every bit as important as anyone else's, and just as useless.

In short coach I totally agree with you that one rose dont make summer but after watching many years of Cowboy football this team has a feel to it that makes me excited We are looking prepared and not playing down to our competition like I have seen in previous years .

So far it appears like this team is finally CAPABLE of making the handful of plays that separates a playoff team from a true contender on offense anyway . If the defense can just start to get a few TO it could really blow the lid off .
