Has been double teamed 43 times on pass rushing downs, most in NFL.
Just thought I'd throw that nugget out there since I haven't read it on the forums.
Where did you get that stat?

And if you have a better 1T, guess what? While Collins is being blocked by two guys, your better one tech has more one on one opportunities. Or maybe he gets doubled and Collins now finds himself in more one on one situations.

This really is just that simple. Too bad it doesn’t fit into your one-note “Cowboyz Rule!” narrative.

Note that he said pass rushing downs.

Do you understand what that means relative to the 1T?

They've also been playing a 3-man line on many plays where the offense needs more than 10 yards and on some 3rd & 10 type situations.

They have used Collins as the lone DT when using a 3-man line.

Collins playing as the lone DT when they play a 3-man line on 3rd and long type situations adds to the count of snaps where he is double teamed.

So you are saying that Maliek wouldn't be getting doubled if we had a player that was better than him?

Pssst, guess what. If that was the case, we'd still have a DT getting doubled a ton.

Until we put better talent out there at the one Tech position protection will probably slide towards the three Tech more often than not. It seems that we continuously try to get lucky on day 3 of the draft when it comes to that position. It would behoove the defense greatly if we at least moved up to day two.

It doesn't mean you can't find a diamond in the rough on day 3, but when you constantly throughout 6th and 7th round picks to address to position it looks like the position is just an afterthought. We do a good job of identifying talent, no need to wait until the pool is almost dry.

Makes sense.

We only use the 4 DL to pressure the QB.

5-6 OL vs 4 DL.

Someone is gonna get doubled.

All these double teams and only 5 sacks. Something isnt adding up

Quinn could change all of that. If teams use RB to chip Tank that means Quinn is 1:1 all day. Won't surprise me if he ends year with double digit sacks.

Good point especially with this other thread saying that Tank is getting doubled 35% of the time as well. So yeah... something doesnt add up at all.

This is a byproduct of a super conservative defensive front which has sent four guys most of the time and sometimes three. Granted we have played against poor O-lines but because of the opposition has instructed their RB's, fullbacks and TE's support their O-line.

So basically teams treat him like our 1-tech which is another reason why we need another 1-tech, somebody big that commands double teams on the other side of him...
They treat him as a threat.

this is actually good news, this should mean that others on the DL should get single teamed and they just need to beat their man....Lawrence, Quinn and whomever is the other DT....it also means we can run some blitzes and should be able to have some success

I have very little regards to hearing excuses of double teams as a means to lack of a pass rush.
Pro bowl rushers and impact players will see double teams ... and still expect to beat double teams. That's why they will get the big money monster contract, and opposing teams will pick their spots to do that, its not like our player is going to see that every play and every series.

And the more innovative coaches/teams schemes and plan ways to get their impact better freed up from chips and double teams,.. such as Dlaw being involved in on stunts and twists inside on occasions.
