People react so quickly to statements they perceive to be all-or-nothing judgments. I understand what the original poster is saying. Dak struggled with accuracy, footwork, indecision, etc. Anyone who couldn't see that is blind. That doesn't mean he hasn't been a leader, doesn't mean he didn't have a clutch gene. It just means he's not a COMPLETE quarterback, and he isn't. Now that he apparently has a quarterback coach and an offensive coordinator who are getting the most out of him, we see the progress but want to see continued promise.
But questioning him and not swallowing the Koolaid that he has ARRIVED apparently offends many in this forum.
It's okay to admit that he's doing well, but we still need to see how he does against tougher competition. Many of us don't evaluate Dak by Cleveland Brown or Detroit Lion standards but by Cowboys standards, which means Super Bowls or bust.
That's why many don't appreciate Tony Romo.
This may be very nice in theory, but reality is very different.

Dak could win the MVP this year and in the off-season there will be a hundred threads saying:

"Yeah, but it's only 1 year. Let's see if he do it again. He needs to do it a couple of more times before I'm sold. Next year will be his REAL test"

For many, there will never be enough evidence. Never.

Over the next 13 games Dak Prescott will be revealed. The REAL Dak Prescott.
The Cowboys schedule is getting tougher, and soon there will be no doubt as to whether or not Dak is "The Man".
I think he'll do fine.
The REAL good news.....

You've succeeded in putting me to sleep.

Winning the NFC East twice is not that great of an accomplishment, considering how weak the East has been. The Commanders and Giants have been in disarray, and the year the Cowboys were 13-3 so were the Eagles.
The 9-7 season was really another one of Garrett's 8-8 seasons, with the ninth win coming after the Cowboys were already 8-8.
Make no mistake- the Cowboys should have gone further in Dak's first season, and keeping Romo on the bench after he healed was a colossal mistake.
Last season was okay.
The one thing that can be said is that the Cowboys are finally beating the teams they are supposed to beat- and that is a real accomplishment.
This season has been tougher than some will credit the Cowboys with. The Commanders finally have a quarterback, but no defense. Still, it was an impressive win. And the Giants came to play.
But the rest of the schedule will tell if Dak and the Cowboys have taken the next step.
You have no idea what you are talking about. Eagles weren't 13-3 the same year Dallas was and no they weren't 8-8. And getting to the divisional round of the playoffs is not the first round

We don’t play a good defense until the Vikings in week 10. I’m 100% behind Dak, but if you’re waiting for him to face a good defense before judging him you’re gonna be waiting a while.
So how many good defenses are there in the league? And do all QBs have to wait until they gave one of those until we judge them? I'm guessing Brady may not face any all year.

Dak's first year was an anomaly. He was allowed to stand behind the best o-line in football and patiently pick out his receivers- yet still failed to get out of the first round of the playoffs.

You can't be serious. He drove the team down for the game-winning touchdown with 35 seconds left in the game. He threw 3 touchdowns.

So it's Dak's fault that our defense gave up a field goal with 35 seconds on the clock?

You people kill me.

Bingo!
Unfortunately, unless you agree with the Homer's and never look at the bigger picture, you get labeled as a "troll".
There are standards that some of us got accustomed to when the Cowboys were a different organization.

That was a long, long time ago and many years have passed since that old organization even existed. The transition has been an extremely painful and incremental one that has seen a great number of adjustments made to get to a point where we are today. If one has been keeping up with the steady influx of changes that have taken place, it shouldn't be too difficult to see that they've been valuable in arriving at a true understanding of today's reality! ;)

What? What about his 2016 season, or after Cooper arrived last year, when he completed 71.4% of his passes leading into the playoffs? Sheez.

He has had growing pains and not shown the ability to meet the challenges when adversity arose.
This season will show how far he has come.
I think he'll be fine, but we will get to see.

He DID NOT fail vs the Pack in the 2016 playoffs, that was the D and the secondary.

D. Prescott 24/38 302 yards 3 tds 1 int

Dak has already proven himself. This is his 4th year in the league, let me repeat that, his 4th year.
13-3
9-7
10-6
3-0

He has won the NFC East twice, been in the pro-bowl twice, high QBR, he has completely balled out and made Romo expendable. He beat out a veteran, that within itself speaks volumes. If there are people doubting if Dak is "the man", then they are idiots. This man has what it takes to get to and win the Superbowl. He is a franchise QB that has proven himself. You can't fake it as a QB in the NFL. Players have tried and they are exposed immediately.

This exactly is the question. It's his 4th year and still the Dallas front office has not signed him, even after all your points.

Doesn't it interest you "why"?

P.S. Prescott didn't beat Romo for starting position, Romo and Moore were hurt. Romo and Moore don't get hurt, Prescott never sees the field, probably practice squad.

Why can't Dak play defense as well? I only demand one thing from my QB and that is perfection, this guy can't even do that. Clearly a bust /sarc

To me, Dak looks totally different this year, playing with more confidence and throwing the ball better downfield. He is the man and will be paid as a such.

Young quartetbacks, the really good ones, get better as time goes one. That has been the case with Dak. Theres no reason to think that hes not "the man". Every year so far he had grown, faced adversity, and grown from it so that is a real positive sign.

DP has proven to be a consistent winner.

The difference between then and now is that he’s passing the ball instead of hurling it.

So why do you say it all at Dak's feet?
Where did I say it was all at Dak's feet?
Tony Romo was a very good quarterback who played but let Garrett's lack of discipline ruin him.
Dak's play is on Dak. The Cowboys have a very good OC but will still be empty at the head coach position.
Jerry may think it's his business to make Garrett rich while he destroyed the franchise, but they ask every fan to approve of them-making their business our business. And I don't approve of Garrett and probably never will because of the damage he's done.
I like Dak, but still see where he lacks the ability to be the difference in the level of play by the Cowboys.
So, we'll see.

This is just a stupid statement. Dak did everything to win that game and the one last year. The defense lost both those games. It just kills me that wins and loses are credited to the QB. If the win 2 points to zero he his a winning QB. Please stop!
