For teams with a good D and ball controlling offense. I think we're going to experience some Deja Vu on the road vs. the Pats the Sunday prior to Thanksgiving. I know that's looking way ahead but what NO did last night sure looked like a Patriots blueprint. Get a couple of key turnovers, win the TOP game, win ugly.
New England has a stout defense and a 42 year old QB who can still get rid of the ball quickly. WRs can't really separate, but NE will gladly take what Dallas gives them. And we all know they will. They'll have no problem with the running and short passing plays between the 20s. I can definitely see Dallas holding them to more FGs than TDs -- but it won't matter, because I can also see JG going with a vanilla offensive gameplan AGAIN in the road vs. a quality playoff
opponent, which also means shying away from the younger, more inexperienced guys like Pollard and Jarwin which has helped Moore's offense get to where it was before last night's game.
Last night's 12-10 final reminded me of the 12-0 loss at NE in 2003. I'm hoping for something a little different this time around, but I have a feeling we'll go back into our shell. Speaking of which, our OL seems to be a shell of themselves on the road vs. a quality D compared to at home. Why is that? Is it just because of the crowd noise? Are they that weak mentally??
That then leads to a vanilla playbook. @ NO last night, @ LA during the divisional round last season. It would be nice if the D didn't bend so easily between the 20s, but it is what it is.
Last night sucked, but we've seen that chapter before and I'm afraid we'll see it again soon, no matter how good they look at home vs the Pack or Eagles, or on the road vs a hapless D like the NYG. Hell, Detroit's D is stingy in their place -- watch our offense go vanilla in that game too.
This team, specifically OL and DL, need to take control on the road in a big game before we can annoint them as serious SB contenders.
