Good thread, thanks for posting but keep an eye on Quinn.......he could very well be the 90's Charles Haley that put the D over the top.

In all fairness, the 1992 Cowboys first 2 games were against the last 2 SB winners.

The Phoenix Cardinals was the only easy game out of the first 4.

The Giants went 6-10 that year after going 8-8 the year before. The Commanders finished 3rd in the NFC East though they did make the playoffs. Not saying they were easy as they were division games but the Eagles were the hard game in that set (they finished 11-5).

All that said that team went from 1-15 in 1989 to 7-9, 11-5 and finally 13-1. That was a 4 year groundswell of improvement that was easily seen. This 2019 has similar talent, but not coaching, and it (until otherwise shown) appears to be stagnant as a result. Two steps forward, 1 step back kind of deal.

I still have tape of every game in 1992. You wouldn't believe how that 92 grew from the beginning of the season to the end of the season.

This 2019 team is very good. Some coaching to be determined on this years team though.

There is no parallel. That team had Jimmy Johnson leading it and a bunch of young, hungry players. Today's team has Garrett and a bunch of overpaid, underachieving players. The first 4 games may look similar, but the rest of the season won't come close to what they did in 1992.

I agree but the point is we didn't know that 1992 team was special until late in the year. All we knew was it was going in the right direction.

The team this year has higher expectations than that 92 team did at the time. It has more experience and is more loaded.

This team should be a contender. But we need a 1Tech in a bad way. That’s the missing piece right now, and it’s because of Marinelli. The game has passed him by.

I don't think comparing the season to a Cowboys season from nearly 30 years ago provides many useful parallels.

At what point in 92 did we trade for Thomas Everett? He was a safety from PIT that made a difference for us during that years Super Bowl run.... I’m hoping we do the same this year...
