Just a random thought-I am predicting we will see the NFL flex for the first time this year in two weeks. We will know for sure tomorrow. Right now, Cowboys @ Jets and Steelers @ Chargers get the game of the week/Sunday Night window. I think Steelers-Chargers goes from the Sunday night game to 3:05/3:25. I think 49ers-Rams will be the Sunday Night game. Also, I think the Cowboys-Jets will go from 3:25 to 12:00. They did this back in 2017 with the Cowboys-Giants. It just isn't that good of a game. I think CBS will get either Texans @ Chiefs or Seahawks @ Browns as the 3:25 game.

wouldn't fox want to protect the rams/49ers game from the flex?

Well turns out they didn't flex. I'm surprised. It's the 3:05 slot so only San Fran and LA markets get that game. Think they can only protect 3:25 games. Example- NBC couldn't flex this weeks Green Bay-Dallas game. Fox has it protected because it's a 3:25 game. They could do a noon or 3:05 game.

They only get to flex 2 games all season. They typically wait until later in the season when the games have definite playoff implications. Without looking at the schedule,I doubt they start using them until week 13 at the earliest

Cowboys-Jets is going to draw more viewers than any of these games. They aren't moving that game in week 6. Cowboys-Giants got moved b/c the Giants were 2-11 and the game had zero playoff implications.

They can flex more than 2 games. They are limited to 2 between week 5 and 10.

In 2006 the NFL implemented a primetime "flexible scheduling" element on Sundays in Weeks 10-15 and in Week 17. In 2014 that was extended so that games between Weeks 5 and 17 could be affected by flex scheduling. However, only two games may be flexed into Sunday Night between Week 5 and 10.
