Over the off season, it was reported that Dak turned down 30 mil a year. Russell Wilson is making 35 mil a year with his new contract. So, let's look at the stats

Dak's 106.0 looks great on the surface, but we all know this is misleading due to the first 2 games of the season, in the last 3 he hasn't put up anything all the impressive. The TD totals are higher than they were last year at this time, but so are his INTs. He has turned the ball over in every game but one this year.

Russell Wilson, however, is playing better than any QB in the league right now. After Mahomes performance last night, I think most would agree that Wilson is probably the front runner in the early MVP race. 12 TD passes, 0 INTs, top of the list in deep field accuracy, and made that throw to Lockett on Thursday that only a few QBs can make. Now, the argument here will be that Wilson has been in the league longer, that would be a valid point if Prescott wasn't asking for that MVP type money now.

Prescott may have ended up playing himself here and lost out on some cash. It's going to be very very tough for him to justify anything more than 30+ million after seeing the way Wilson is playing this year.

Dak's value has clearly dropped the last two weeks... Russell Wilson is playing on another level this season. Dak is not in his class and would have to develop another tier of consistency against quality competition to even get into the conversation.

$30 mil per year sounds about right-- but let him play out the season and see where his ask is. He has already said he doesn't think he deserves SB winning QB money-- so if he finishes out of the playoffs, or outside of the NFCCG again-- then his demands will be much lower.

2 SB appearances in first 3 years so no...

also...

grey clapper > red clapper

Trent Dilfer won a SB, and Dak hasn't had anything close to the Legion of Boom behind him. Just saying "SB" is too easy.

That said, when I watch them play I just think Wilson is better than Dak.

As for the gray clapper, he cost Wilson a second SB ring when he didn't give it to Beastmode at the 1. Than again, Wilson threw the pass.

1) I've always loved Wilson. He's an amazing QB.
2) Salaries aren't paid out on just skill level.

Michael Thomas is the highest paid WR but he's not the best.

Edit - its Julio Jones now.

And who does Wilson have at WR and RB?

Dak needs top 5 talent at every single position to go out and be average

Dak needs to start moving around in and out of the pocket like Wilson is doing. Needs to start getting teams to back off of him with his legs. Moore needs to stop resting on the laurels of the Oline as well. They aren't that impressive, especially on the interior. Hopefully that changes as Fredbeard gets more playing time and Martin's back heals.

Other teams are winning with backup QBs. Ours is at the very least above serviceable. QB is the least of our worries today.

Dak has long way to go before he is in Russell category.

LOL how many teams win Super Bowls with backup QBs? Not everyone turns into Tom Brady.

And the discussion is if Dak is worth what he's asking for, if you can win with backup QBs, probably shouldn't give out a big contract....

I think we've given out enough big contracts, at least until we decide to get real coaching in here. Even if you think Dak is Wilson, what's the point in keeping him if Garrett and friends are going to continue to hamstring him?

Dak is not very elusive like Wilson nor is he very fast. He is a big frame and can be hard to bring down but his good runs come when he has wide open space in front of him. Wilson has that quick ability to move and still throw downfield accurately where Dak needs more time and space to get his feet right or he is way off. You can design some rollout with him though, move the pocket a bit.

Dak is not Russell Wilson. What we are seeing from Dak now is the reason why he does not deserve $35 million. I just heard Cowherd say Dak is a $27 million QB! Two weeks ago he said he was a $35 million QB. If Dak has a clean pocket and time to scan the field he makes great plays. But if Dak is hurried a little, he becomes inaccurate, he stares down his receivers, and he tends to focus on one or two guys. He is at his best when he is moving the ball around and using his feet. Fix the pass protection and Dak will throw for 300 yards and make plays. Or, refocus on the running game and Zeke pounding the football. But to do that the defense has to make some stops.
