Thought we would see more Tony Pollard

I’m beginning to think what we are seeing from backup RB Tony Pollard is what we get from him as simply a relief- spell backup RB as far as running the ball - every third series subbing for zeke only ?

I'm starting to think only if it’s a weak dismissal losing team that we are comfortably ahead with score, would Pollard get extensive more carries .

From what was described in his skill set at draft time, and the speculation talk of how creative we would be using Pollard, I thought his usage and impact under Kellen Moore would be a definite more greater than what we’ve been seeing him.

When Pollard has had a chance to display his run skills, he’s been impressive, he’s put away skeptics that he can excel between the tackles, and I think he’s an explosive breakaway quick six points waiting to happen.

But he hasn’t gotten the touches to prove as such in either the run or in pass game where I thought we’d be use him as a Kamara. Chris McCaffery, Tarin Cohen (bears) type

Frankly I thought that whatever we are seeing from “ candle-light” Tavon Austin on these reverse end sweep runs, we could have been giving that role to the speedy Pollard.

And where’s the Pollard/Zeke backfield formation several thought we’d be seeing ?

He's not as shifty as cohen not even close. He's not as good as zeke either. Zeke should be on the field as much as humanly possible. My goodness worry about Jourdan Lewis playing time if anything.
Lewis is our best corner, yet no playing time. ANOTHER indictment of the coaching, yet again. PLAY THE BEST CORNER WE HAVE! Don't give a care how short he is. With that kinda of mindset, Darrell Green would have never been drafted or played one play! These stupid *** coaches lol..

Pollard looks good. He can play given the opportunity.

as of now he is a complete and utter waste of a pick though.

You'd think. Mr Pollard deserves touches every game until he proves otherwise.

Go Cowboys!

I wish we'd run more 2 RB sets. The 49ers had some amazing plays drawn up. They had a 2 RB, 2 TE, and one WR set and it always worked out well. I know we have Witten and Jarwin, and while they aren't currently the best TE's in the league, they are formidable enough to run a possible set like this one.

We could have also utilized them like the Saints did Kamara and Ingram last year, but I seem to keep forgetting that this is the Cowboys and that they continually like mediocrity and disappointment, so this likely won't happen.

the kid can't prove anything by sitting on the bench. Its pure stupidity to leave a weapon of his caliber on the sidelines.

^^this^^ We keep using the failed tactics of the 1 back set. USE THE 2 BACK SETS!! We are paying a very good fullback to basically not play! We have a great young stud in Pollard, and basically..cant get on the field. OUR ISSUE ISN'T ONE OF TALENT. Its 2 fold. Its poor coaching overall, and lastly...scheme mismanagement. Firing Marinelli and Garrett would solve both.

There is no proof of that.

It's a fan narrative.

I'm hoping to see more of him.

To be honest, I didn't want to admit it.

But Zeke has lost a step. He got paid at just the right time and that was smart.

RB shelf-life is typically short.

To be clear, I'm not saying doom. But I think his best days are behind him.

lmao???ok...the game tape doesn't lie. Football is football. Byron Jones CLEARLY isn't as good in coverage or tackling compared to Lewis. NOT EVEN CLOSE. Lewis' instincts are 10 fold better.

really ?
I believe that was the sole reason why we got rid of useless Rod Smith and drafted Tony Pollard.
we wore zeke out to a ridiculous point, to where he often was pointing to the sideline for help and relief.
But we couldn't spell him like we needed to, because Rod was trash and get zeke back in ASAP.

For the record, I think Zeke will run all over the Jets.

Just my hunch.

I think they should have leaned on him more against Green Bay.

Our WRs almost looked a little banged up out there, like neither Cooper or Gallup were at 100%.

After the interception, Dak started to rush things and was overthrowing Witten and just wasn't on his usual game.

Then, we had to pass and that wasn't necessarily padding Zeke's stats.

I think the pressure of Dak getting paid is impacting him a little.

But I also think it's smarter to lean on the running game... a little more.

That should open things up a bit more in the passing game.

I think we'll see some adjustments from Moore and an increase in run plays.

Ya i was thinking about Pollards misuse earlier today.

It is a joke we dont use him more. The second half of the game, he should have been in there getting dump offs to make plays. When he runs the ball...there is a noticible difference in speed between he and zeke.

They NEED to play him more...period

Pollard looks like a good RB and I would love to see more of him. But how do you take Zeke off the field?

the same way zeke comes off the field in every 3rd series while Pollard replaces him for at least a series or two
and the magic of Pollard is he could have Kamara/McCaffrey like receiving traits that allow him to swing into the passing game
vs LBs as a speedy threat. How Kellen utilizes him is up to his imagination.

You saw how zeke swung out in that wheel route in pass game and gained a huge chunk downfield that overcame 1st and 25 (per Garrett's flag)
there could be more formations where he gets free release and hitting a seam on the run to the end zone or his own huge chunk play downfield.
