Who else is numb and really doesn't even care after the last two weeks?

Yeah.. It looked like it had the makings of a fun season but now reality has set in and we're just going to get some more Garrett football.

Next up will be them stringing some wins together and get wind back in their sails.

It wouldn't surprise me if we have a big win against the Pats or something later on in the year and get all of our hopes up.

Then we'll get to the post season and just get completely outcoached and watch as our defense gets ran all over or thrown all over without any way to stop it and we get eliminated from the post season and start this Garrett process over again.

It's boring.

I can see it unfolding almost exactly as you described it here. And it sucks.

So contrasting to that younger kid outlook of mine on how I was back in the day with Roger’s ‘Boys.
Lol!

I've already nixed Cowboys games from my weekly schedule after Sunday's debacle.
If somehow the team makes it into December with a winning record and poised for a deep playoff run, maybe I'll take interest again.
We know what we have with this ownership and Jason Garret though so it's just not worth caring about anymore. They've alienated that part of the fanbase that values winning and the legacy the organization once had, and I feel I no longer identify with the team in a significant way anymore because of it.

I go back to the beginning of the team and have experienced all the ups and downs.

The first years were the growing pains, but we saw improvement. Then came the “can’t win the big one” era...until we won SB VI (Jan 1972). After that, we were solid contenders for @12yrs and I started thinking ahead of the regular season and about the playoffs. After which, the decline of the Landry era kinda brought things back down to earth and I learned to appreciate each game for itself; sometimes good, sometimes bad. The Jimmy years were a wild ride, but now we’ve been mired in a postseason funk for the past 23 seasons.

Like a lotta fans here, I got a little carried away by our start. Yeah, the first three opponents were bad teams, but the Cowboys kicked butt, as they were supposed to vs weak comp. I sorta figured we were ready to consistently compete with other winning teams, but...oops!

The last two losses hurt, but we’ve got (at least) 11 more games to watch. For what it’s worth, I’m gonna stay excited about this team until we either win the SB or get eliminated.

If I ever feel numb after a loss, it’ll probably be due to a few extra shots of Ezra along with the usual game-day beers. ;)

The last two weeks have been extremely disappointing, particularly the GB loss.

I thought this team had a chance to earn a bye, and therefore make a Super Bowl run. Now I know that’s very unlikely. Should have known better than to get my hopes up.

I’m damn near quit reading your post. I got full of myself thinking I was doing myself a favor from something regurgitated from past posts, what we here and all say, day in and day out.

But I pushed through. You laid out what I feel. It is indeed a damn roller coaster ride. Especially after destroying our 1st three opponents before losing to 2 upper echelon teams we could have beat had we been been better prepared. Now everyone is freaking out. Me included to a point. I’m not giving up. Not in my nature this early into the season.

Bottom line, you did nail what many of us feel, and at the same time, the Cowboys will never be a perfect team. Yet SOME consistency, or at least more competitive play needs to happen.

One game we’re great, the next game one side of the ball, or sometimes both lets us down.

Considering that this is the best team we have fielded since the 90’s, as some claim, we need to see it, or big changes up top (HC and assistants) need to take place!

We have a talented roster. But we need some health, some luck, some execution, and some accountability!

I honestly don't blame you for brushing over my post, but somehow I felt like there is still more clarity we can all get on the subject so hence my attempt. By reading everyone's post I'm getting a ton out of it for myself and how to process everything if that makes sense?

There are just so many issues when it comes to consistency that coaching is really the only thing that makes sense as so many have pointed out. At this point not even a win against the Jets is going to be uplifting much because we already have seen how our team responds to well coached teams with equal talent.

We also know that if they get on a roll and get to the playoffs that the wheels will fall off like clockwork. It's just frustrating that we have all of this talent but never take the proper steps to alleviate what plagues us.

I completely get what your feeling. Unfortunately its an all too familiar feeling for all Dallas fans. But the beauty of each season IMO is the swing games can bring you back in... first off they BETTER beat the Jets and I think they will, but then you play Philly, Beat them and you get some of that good feeling back, going into the bye at 5-2 with the Giants waiting after the long prep time. But the Good News and Bad news, is after that Giants game, they are all contenders, Vikings, @Lions, @Pats, Bills, @Bears, Rams and at Philly.. We end with Skins, but as bad as they are, I really hope that is not a must win game, because that will be their super bowl. So better be 6-2 when we start that 7 game gauntlet, where we'd be lucky to go 4-3.

The hope is if this team fails they clean house, but I have had that hope since the first 3 8-8 years under this regime, so I try not to hold my breath.

The last two weeks?

For me personally I had to just walk away from all the media and anticipation for upcoming games.
There is no way I could ever have seen winning the first three games in the fashion we did and then
laying a turd in the bed two weeks in a row in the fashion we did. It defies logic quite honestly
and at this point I;m just numb and unattached comparatively to how I was after going 3-0.

The ups and downs are too much take with this team. Just when you think they have one side of the ball figured out something happens on the other side that leaves you scratching your head. It wouldn't be so bad if it hasn't been 20 plus years of horrible luck, but now it's bordering on insanity.

I'm just wondering who else has gone a bit numb? It's kind of like self protection/preservation is kicking in.. Thanks Jerrah..

You literally took the words out of my mouth. I wouldn't say it was the Saints game that did it. It was Sunday. Since training camp started I was pumped! I was on here multiple times a day, I read all the articles, listened to the shows and now? I haven't hardly been on here all week. I haven't read anything about the Jets game. I'm still a fan, I'm just like you I don't care as much right now. It's kind of like when we were 3-5. Don't get me wrong, I know we weren't going 16-0. But to lose the way they did against Green Bay and act like everything is okay. I'm serious-if Jason Garrett gets an extension I'm done. I'll watch the games but that's about it. I know it sounds silly but I kind of needed a break from the Cowboys. Things aren't always as bad or as good as they seem. It also didn't help that the Cardinals had some big games this week in baseball so I directed my attention towards that!

We played three terrible teams the first three weeks. Then we played two good teams. I have no idea how anyone could think the results "defy logic." Disappointing, sure.

And come on. Every team this side of the Patriots has ups and downs. There's nothing unusual about the Cowboys in this regard.

I'm at the point now where I get so frustrated with this team that I really don't even care about watching football anymore. The sad part is that it's not even all about this year. It's the past 23+ years combined. And it's not just the Cowboys, it's the NFL in general. I use to live for the NFL season. Right now, I could care less if the NFL folded. The greed and corruptness are killing this game...

Yes but not just because I grew up and started looking at this for what it is, it's just a game. For too long, I took it for more than that and a loss could stay with me for a week.

The presence of the Joneses and the constant need to be in the media has flat worn me down. I can take the losses and even playing poorly, hell, I've lived through that but this is something else. No other fandom has to endure this, it wasn't this bad with the Steinbrenner or Crazy Al, they didn't need this constant attention.

I do wish there was a separate part of this forum where all of the non football garbage like anything and everything either of those two say in the worst father/son act in sports history.

However, there is one consolation for those that dislike Booger as much as I do, you get to see him pissed off after a loss. And notice how the blame is aimed at the coaching staff and seldom the talent he's assembled.
