Who else is numb and really doesn't even care after the last two weeks?

Been about 10 years for me. I still watch the games every week, but the losses simply don't bother me that much any longer. Nor do I get that excited about wins.

it happened to my Father after the THIRD ”in-you-win-but-we-lost-in-game-17-and-were-out” seasons. I chalked it up to age but it finally happened to me during the Green Bay game. I sprung a leak during the Zeke holdout. He came back and I felt nothing when he scored a touchdown (unlike the happy feeling when Witten did). I was shopping with my family in the mall and caught the score and we were down 14 and for the first time in my life I just shrugged. I was one of the people who wanted Dak to replace Romo. Good team play with a no-drama QB would be a good recipe. Ha! Now it looks like the same rollercoaster ride without the excitement that Romo brought.

The last two weeks?

For me personally I had to just walk away from all the media and anticipation for upcoming games.
There is no way I could ever have seen winning the first three games in the fashion we did and then
laying a turd in the bed two weeks in a row in the fashion we did. It defies logic quite honestly
and at this point I;m just numb and unattached comparatively to how I was after going 3-0.

The ups and downs are too much take with this team. Just when you think they have one side of the ball figured out something happens on the other side that leaves you scratching your head. It wouldn't be so bad if it hasn't been 20 plus years of horrible luck, but now it's bordering on insanity.

I'm just wondering who else has gone a bit numb? It's kind of like self protection/preservation is kicking in.. Thanks Jerrah..
I was numb sitting in the stadium watching the Cowboys go down 24-0. After watching the replay of the game and seeing how the Cowboys just completely ^%#$ the bed with mental mistakes, I am reminded that good teams will tear your heart out if you make those mistakes. Just watch the game again a shut it off after Zeke's 12 yard run on the first drive.

My theoretical insight on this goes something like this. So you go to your favorite restaurant, burger joint etc, as usual, you order your favorite from the menu, say juicy burger, loaded, cheese, bacon, peppers, grilled onion, you get your order, pay and walk out or drive out, get home only to find once again they didn't give you that delicious burger, instead you got a s*** sandwich. But, like the good sport you are, you won't let them drive you away, oh no, instead you keep returning, placing the same order and receiving the same crap sandwich. It's called being a glutton for punishment, that's us, all of us here on these forums, we are some kind of special jerry's kids, I tell ya!
I just ordered another **** sandwich like my wife said I would do. I didn't even think it would be the good burger. After last Sunday, I was declaring "I'm done" and she was telling me otherwise. I was reading this site less than 12 hours later. Damn you, woman!

I honestly don't blame you for brushing over my post, but somehow I felt like there is still more clarity we can all get on the subject so hence my attempt. By reading everyone's post I'm getting a ton out of it for myself and how to process everything if that makes sense?

There are just so many issues when it comes to consistency that coaching is really the only thing that makes sense as so many have pointed out. At this point not even a win against the Jets is going to be uplifting much because we already have seen how our team responds to well coached teams with equal talent.

We also know that if they get on a roll and get to the playoffs that the wheels will fall off like clockwork. It's just frustrating that we have all of this talent but never take the proper steps to alleviate what plagues us.
The sad thing is most believe we need new coaches but it's a lost cause. Jerry showed what he thought about coaching when he replaced Parcells with Wade and the heir apparent. I'm not even confident he'll replaced Garrett with anyone good but at least it will be different. These roller coaster seasons just take a lot out of you. Makes some fans want to even tank after 5 games just to get rid of Garrett. Very sad too because the Cowboys were always a first class organization when Coach Landry was here. Every year we thought we'd be in the playoffs and we were usually right. Jerry was a good owner when Jimmy was here but ever since the dynasty ended it's been a living hell being a Cowboy fan. It just never ends. Hate what Jerry did to my favorite team. Sorry to ramble on...just wish he would realize that his way doesn't work and he'd hire real football people.

Top 5 song...ever. I'm still trying to get there though. Gonna pour another drink so maybe.
Drink and a toke while good music is playing.
I'm going to do it right now.
A shot of Corzo Anejo... toke of some medicinal...

And now it's breakfast for dinner...
Shredding potatoes for hash and readying water to poach eggs.

The main thing that dims my caring is the poor officiating. The less the game is decided by the players, the less I care.

I shall try. Don:t think I've tried that brand. Toking is another story altogether, What was the topic again? Oh yeah, I'm still sorta numb.

Losses suck even more and wins don’t feel as good. Because in the end game this team is no different than any Dallas team we’ve been watching for what seems like an eternity. There is always a piece missing every year. Even in the double digit win campaigns.

And the most glaring weakness resulting in post season failures is that damn defense. It’s nauseating. And it’s rearing it’s ugly head again.

p

Every decision after Parcells was just horrendous! First Garrett ‘the zero experience OC’ (before the actual HC) then he hires Wade Phillips of all coaches?? Took a team that was primed and ready and squashed it right out of the gate. Then came his drafts and his complete inability to not get hosed in a trade. on and on. I am intrigued enough to see how he can top himself? There’s talent here and Jerry’s not getting any younger. I still have faith in Stephen. That’s really the only hope. We already seen Jerry in action .. 1 step forward, 2 steps back.

Try going to the hospital at halftime because you think you might be having a heart attack or stroke. It puts all these games in perspective. I still care because the games are an event to me.

The players only care as long as their contract lasts. That is the problem for fans.

Not numb.
I just have the sinking feeling that Jerry has put one over me again for the 20th straight time.
Blimey! And I have only me to blame.

I am not really up or down overall on the players. I think better of Dak, worse of Zeke, more of Gallup, less of others, etc. I didn't think that Dallas had overwhelming talent coming into the season but I thought they were pretty good and my mind hasn't changed there.

The realization that when the cards are on the table, Dallas is going to get badly outcoached really tempered my enthusiasm. I used to be a die hard fan but years of mediocrity took its toll to the point where I didn't watch every week. This year was different. I have been into it but after last week, I'm not going to plan my weekend around watching the game. I'm back to "meh" status.

I'm not numb, but I won't allow myself to get irate over their horrible play.

First time in 49 years I turned off the GB game when GB went up 21-0. I took the dog for a walk and never turned the game back on.

I'm not going to allow this team to negatively effect me nor my household.

I learned long ago football is just another form of entertainment. It's great when a favorite team wins, but when they don't, it's like a movie with a bad ending for me. Life goes on and I can at least be glad for never having to watch it again.

No not numb but also like the first 3 games where I tried pleading with you all to temper the enthusiasm because of who we beat, and after these two losses to temper the cliff diving and negative post, I will save judgment when the picture is complete..

we cant judge a song or artist creating art or paintings 1/4 complete, its 16 game season to determine where you stand against other teams and if you make it to the playoffs..

I witnessed how we won so easily against poor competition and how it could have gone the other way if we limited the mistakes, we weren't beat because we have bad players, we beat ourselves with mistakes and lots of them..we limit those down the stretch we will get to the playoffs and its anybody's game then..we arent near as good as the 3-0 start but not as bad as fans are making it seem 0-2.. chill let the season unfold and we can have all the debates we want about whos not living up to contracts, who deserves to be fired, cut, or traded...

theres way too much of that going on right now and we are 5 games in, jeez if you didnt learn last year at 3-5 , its never as bad as it seems and things can change quickly..

so I try and use the 24-48 hr rule to get over wins and losses and move to the next game..

I realized several years ago that Jerry doesn't really care about winning, so why should I?

He plotted for years, even before Parcells was hired, to eventually hire Garrett as his head coach. He knew he wanted a family friend and faithful employee who wouldn't bark back at him -- preferably one the local media would adore and give breaks to -- and Jason was perfect with his Princeton degree and ties to the Glory Days. If Jason turned out to be a good coach that would be great, but still secondary to letting Jerry maintain control, have fun, and print money. It's a great scam Jerry has going, and one he has no incentive to change as long as the P/L statements and TV ratings are rocking.

The plus side is that as I've cared less about this team, I care more about the league as a whole. Where before I didn't care as much about keeping up with other stories and teams around the league, now I find that interesting. So it balances out just fine.

As for this year, though, many of you guys are overreacting. By luck or skill, this team has accumulated a lot of talent. They'll beat the sorry Jets, and If they beat the Eagles they will probably win the division and make the playoffs. Of course, that will only encourage Jerry to change nothing about his ongoing fame and money operation.
