42 year old Tom Brady very successfully runs the QB sneak, why not Dak!

I don't have Brady on my FFL, but I do have White. Man I was pissed.

You? I had Sony and he was not on the d-- field for both of pretty boy's TD's or the other back TD Bolton. Will not take a back again from NE, to much shuffling going on there.

they still need to run the QB sneak. Something they rarely do. Most of those yards are either taking off when there’s nothing there or RPOs. Doesn’t really tell the story on clutch short yardage situations. Brady uses this a lot and excels at it.
In some cases it may have to do with the defense across the line. Teams may line up to protect against Dak keeping the ball more so than Brady. Or maybe it's just because we have a better RB to hand the ball off to up the middle.

Also keep in mind the best case scenario is quite different. On a sneak, 2-3 yards is what you can hope for. RBs full of steam can (and not infrequently do) bust huge runs if they can break through a short-yardage defense. (Obviously not talking about goal-to-go situations here.)

Zeke behind Martin and Fred is a better option than a QB sneak. So is Dak on an option play.

This is funny because I wouldn't have expected it but Dallas was 27th in the NFL in 4th down conversions this year. But New England is dead last at 32nd.

Its actually a completely different play and far more risky. Turning and handing the ball to a rb gives the defense time to penetrate. A QB sneek is an automatic yard and a safe play which is why Brady runs it.

Therein lies the problem, we have a stupid staff. Don't care if you have the great Jim Brown back there, 4th and 1 and you have a back standing 7 to 8 yards deep, why not a qb sneak. Difference in a great smart staff and a inept staff.
Yup. Until we have an analytical driven staff, we will change our game management decisions. We have a quarterback in a linebacker's body, lets use that to our advantage.

What a dumb thread ....... If Brady had Zeke in the backfield he would never run a QB sneak.

A false premise was used to make your point. Brady admitted during his postgame talk with the Fox sideline reporter that that QB sneak is a rarity for him to try. I give him credit for making it but if he had more attempts doing it you see him not successful at that more often.

Dak has more rushing TD than Brady so it's not like he can't do it. And he has more successful QB sneaks than Brady in the time he has been in the league so your grip is specifically cherry-picking one game, granted it was a playoff game, where the QB sneak wasn't called.
It is not cherry picking - I have seen it a bunch of times with Brady. This is a legitimate gripe and the Rams game last year was a great example. Dak is a strong guy and I would give his success on 4th and 1 behind Frederick a much better chance than giving it to your back 5 yards deep.

WE SHOULD DO IT! and we don't!

Last year vs the Rams in the playoffs our season basically ended late in the 4th quarter. On 4th and I, Dak turned and handed the ball to Zek who was 7 yards behind the LOS at the start of the play. Of course Zek was stuffed by Donaldson, Suh and half the Rams D. The QB sneak was wide open. A replay of the play shows a yard and a half gap between the 2 defenders on the left side of the center. Dak would have made the 4th down conversion easily by slanting slightly to the left on a QB sneak!!
Why doesn’t Dak run the QB sneak WAY more often on 3rd or 4th and 1. Brady is successful running the QB sneak on 3rd or 4th and 1 over 90% of the time. Dak is much more powerful than a 42 year old Brady. If the QB sneak is good enough for NE on 3rd or 4th and 1, how come it is not good enough for us? NE’s favorite play vs the Giants this Thursday was the basic QB sneak. It was successful EVERY time too!!
Because our coaches have no killer instinct. This should be automatic.

We should do this on every and 1. move the damn chains!

But no...ol red is going to try and give it to our overpriced rb ...

Meanwhile the oats do this all the time...the Eagles do it all the time. We have the perfect qb for it and rarely do it. idiots

What’s funny is that whether a goalline situation or a 3rd or 4th & 1, the hurry up to the line, quick snap, and Brady QB keeper is what I’d expect. And yet, more often than not, they’re Still successful with it.

I think it’s a situation(s) where Brady & OL think little and just go; all brawn.

most QBs seem to need to assess the D first... they over think it IMO.

Brady saying it’s a rarity is a bit of bs

We run it some, but like you, I believe that it's a very hard play to stop and we should run it more often.

...that's all on the OC, Daniels. The guy does well, keeping everything moving, leaving defenses guessing. Add to the fact Brady is tall guy, so that's a leverage.

Big discrepancy, no doubt. Not sure it answers the question, but you have highlighted a significant difference.

The point is Dak could run a QB sneak better than Brady if he wanted to, he is a much better runner on all counts.

The larger point is that its apples and oranges, Zeke is a better option running behind our OL in those situations than a QB sneak. For his career Zeke has converted 8 of 11 first downs on 4th and less than 3 yards.

the 3rd and 1 4th and 1 from Brady is automatic when he sneaks, not talking about scrambling total yards here

For the last four years on 4th and 1, Brady has converted 8 of 12 and Zeke has converted 8 of 11.

Its automatic except it is less successful than turning and giving the ball to Zeke on 4th down over the last four years.

Typical AtlantaCowboy job of sliding into a thread:

If your employer owed you 200m$ over 5 years and promised it was coming, but you getting injured could in any way disrupt that possibility... how excited would you be to run a QB sneak?
