Lets just stick to the facts here and let it sink in for a moment.

I know this will anger many and this post is not intended to do so.

Matt Breida - undrafted

Tevin Coleman - 3rd round

Raheem Mostert - undrafted

This team can pound the rock, they bring a serious ground game with minimal cap expense.

Thats a build model that is working out, right now, on gameday, and as much as it pains me to say it,

San Fran passes the eye test early as a favorite to be in line for contention.

Jerry thinks he can buy a championship because he spends big money to retain top talent, perceived top talent.

All though this thread is focused on how another team addressed their RB issues and suceeded, and how the Cowboys have addressed our backfield is obviously the topic of this post, its actually just a microcosm of the real problem in big D.

Its much larger than most are willing to even admit.

Niners are blowing right by the Cowboys and it's not really a surprise. Been 3 years and that D looks like a night and day difference from this one. Cowboys overvalue some players and those salaries will be back breakers down the road. Plus SF isn't run by complete buffoons.

The Niners are the team that actually built both interior trenches, OL and DL, and they can run the ball at will.
That's how you build a championship caliber team.
Hate em, but have to respect smart ownership and management, that's what gets it done.

Maybe I am missing the point. Or maybe it went off sideways.

So are you saying if we spent 5 million per year on Coleman then we would be better off?
Are you saying if we didnt spend money on a RB (Zeke) then we could spend this money on the Offensive Line?

I don't remember us not being able to pay the offensive line. Heck, T Smith, L Collins, Frederick, Martin are all among the highest paid in the league.

What am I missing?

The 49s just went to the sb in recent history.. their rebuild didn't take that long to be honest.

I think they are in a similar boat as us.. just without any of the pressure. It would be good to have some more cowboys vs Niners games that matter.

Not only do I agree with your post, but when you watch SFO play, they've got something we haven't got ....heart. That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it. They've got Heart, and discipline, both of which originate in coaching of course, which we also haven't got.
The entire country club limousine culture here is due for a reset.

We are 6th in the league in total rushing yards per game.
The niners average only 0.1 ypc more than we do.

It looks like you are wanting to take a shot at Zeke here but it couldnt be more misplaced if this is what it is.

When they made John Lynch their GM, it was an interesting move but looks like he knows what he's doing. Would love to see a comparison of how much they're paying their OL compared to the Cowboys...and they have done it in various ways, not just spending high draft picks.

It's going to be sad if these 49ers are able to make an NFC Championship game in the next few years while we still can't. That would mean they were able to build a great team under Harbaugh and now have successfully rebuilt under Shanahan. But we still have Garrett!

No you missed the point,, its a build model.
That's the point, don't turn this into another bashing Zeke thread, I love me some Zeke,, that's not the point!

The constant with the Cowboys? Red Ball. Jerry just doesn't get it...Garrett should have been gone years ago.

I'm just not getting the point.

We did build. We currently have the 6th ranked run offense. The thread sounds like we are saying that we didn't go about building a running game the right way and using the niners to compare.

Now if you would have said...... "the niners have the 2nd ranked defense in football" then I can see the point. Lets figure out the defense. But pointing to 5'9inch Matt Brieda I guess is lost on me.
