Why is Witten on the field?

I feel like the coaching staff likes Witten because he's a company man. But it sure feels like self inflicted sabotage to me.
Because the other hand full of scrubs we have on the roster at TE can't get open.

And if Witten is a problem, he's waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay down on the list.

Honestly Id draft a TE and cut Jarwin. Dude is garbage. Id give Shultz one more look in camp just because he is a more well rounded player
Agree. I like Schultz as a backup type. Marginally talented but a hard nosed player who always goes all out.

The other tight ends can't beat out a guy pushing 40 who took a year off. That should tell you everything you need to know about the talent behind him.

It’s hard to make plays when you get less than 20% of the snaps. Now Jarwin is being used situationally and in looks that don’t put him an any position to make a play.

Witten can’t block anymore and he hardly stretches the field... it also makes no sense, considering as Romo pointed out, they are trying to stretch the field more vertically and they are passing more

Before today’s game, Jarwin was targeted 10 times and caught 8 receptions.. hardly sucking..

I truly wish they'd play Jarwin more simply to see. I don't think he's starting quality, but no reason not to find out.

Exactiy and based on last years, he more than earned the right to get more reps. Witten was supposed to play situationally and he took the majority of the reps from the get-go.

This is why I think the rumors that the team tried to get Witten back last year mid-season, I believe it was before Cooper, were actually true.

I haven't seen consistent starting quality play from any TE on the roster other than Witten. They truly look like no more than decent backups. I'm a big Witten fan, but even I think he should be playing 20-40% of the snaps.

We won’t know until the TE gets significant snaps. Jarwin started 4 games last year total. To end the season, he had 2 seven reception games, including his 3 TD game against the Giants. The guy is great running the seam route.

Saying he only deserves less than 20% snaps makes no sense, especially considering how much Dallas passes now.
