As bad as it was Sunday, the erroneous 'pick play' call nullifying the TD was the difference

But forget about the offense for a moment, even when everything is clicking on all cylinders. With this defense -- pretty much healthy -- they won't make a deep playoff run anyway.

Still -- that call the nullified the touchdown was awful. That's the difference in the game right there folks; after the next TD, they wouldn't need to go for 2.

No, the other 3 quarters of bad football is the reason we lost.

It was really an absurd call. Terrible officiating.

The game swung on two consecutive plays: getting stopped on 4th down then giving up a 90 yard bomb a play later. Instead of being down 7-6 or up 10-7, it's 14-3 Jets.

That's a 10-14 point swing in 20 seconds. The rest of the game was catch-up mode.

When you get stopped on 4th and 2 (which was a suspect play call to begin with), you absolutely cannot give up the big play the very next play. You've seriously put yourself into a hole from that point on. We also cannot afford to miss field goals in close games, and as Romo noted, every miss in a game like that is absolutely critical. Typical Dallas bonehead plays. It's almost predictable in real time these days.

What concerns me the most is the league's officiating and the nepotism that the league shows certain players. Living in Charlotte, I've seen Cam Newton take a beating without any flags or help from the refs for almost a decade now because in his prime, he was built like a defensive end. Now, Dak, who is built like a linebacker, is taking the same style of hits, not even as a runner, but in the pocket. I saw Dak suplexed one play and then hit with a piledriver again in the 3rd Quarter. If that were Brady or Rodgers, the tackler would be led out of the stadium in handcuffs. I hate the inconsistency. Also, that touchdown drive we had where there were like 5-6 flags in a row is the type of thing killing the game for me.

Garrett should of thrown the challenge flag challenging offensive pass interference.
It wouldn't have been overturned. All NFL officials are subtly flipping any NFL coach the bird who challenges a PI call. as much as I loathe Garrett, that was actually the right call.

the flag shouldn't have been thrown in the first damn place

They will not overturn the PI call. Why continue to waste time outs? the refs have warned teams it has got to be an extreme interference to get reversed.

A play here, a penalty there, a bad call, or a no-call: any of these can completely change a game.

Or the two dropped INTs by GB defenders..

Or the throw that got away from Darnold that went right into Lewis hand when the defense couldn’t stop the Jets worth a penny..

Damn near every team in the NFL runs pick plays like what the 'Boys did yesterday. Romo & some official mucky muck even said it was perfectly legal, yet the Cowboys get called.
I hate whining about officiating, I really do. I've always thought whining about bad calls was for losers. But the officiating now is horrific, and I blame the NFL more than the refs. The NFL has made the rules so complex it's impossible for the refs to make those split second decisions with any degree of accuracy. I'll also say this though, I think there ARE more penalties. Players are caught in the crosshairs of this attempt of the NFL to make it a safe game.

...or Maher’s missed 40-yarder, or going for it on 4th down instead kicking a FG, or that inane 2-pt conversion call, or all the dropped passes, or the predictable play-calling (both O and D), or the stupid/undisciplined penalties, etc, etc...all of this contributed to a loss to a 0-4 team.

I realize the above spoils your “take”, but no one play was the difference. Face it; this team’s a mess right now.
