How soon can we cut D-Law and how much dead money will it cost us?

Thread is as title says. Dude is overrated as hell and I’ll happily eat my words for saying we should have paid him. I gave him the benefit of the doubt for not showing up since he’s probably rusty from injury and getting double teamed, but enough is enough. Getting “doubled teamed” isn’t an excuse. People like Aaron Donald, Khalil Mack, and even Myles Garrett get double teamed but still make big plays. I’m not saying he has to be like Donald, but he could be making way bigger plays than what he is currently doing. I’m sick of it. He’s all talk no show. He got paid and now he thinks he can just suck cause he has nothing to worry about. Thoughts?

Similar to the other star players on the team, Lawrence is a very good player but not elite like he's paid. Tyron and Martin when healthy are the only elite level players on the roster.

To answer your question, I would assume at least 3 seasons before it's even a legit possibility financially.

He’s the worst type of human there is.
One who works hard until he gets paid, then coasts on past accomplishments while not trying to live up to/make good on the investment someone made in him.

I wouldn’t care if we had to take a massive cap hit. If it meant getting this thief off of the team and hopefully give him as little remaining salary $$ as possible, I’d do it.

Jay was better by far. He was just an angry looney.
DLaw is a diva who really wants to be male dancer.
You’re right there lol. Both totally quit trying after being paid though.

Lawrence at least tries to pretend he cares when talking to the media, but there is just no extra effort on the field anymore. I’d feel so guilty if I did that.

The fact the Jones boys ponied up for this sack of dung shows what terrible owners that are. I hope people remember this and don’t ***** and moan when we don’t cave in the future.

Tank was never a great player. He was a “good player” that feasted against bad teams and then got hurt enough that many thought if he would get healthy that the sacks would naturally come. The problem with that line of thinking was that most of the time when it really mattered he couldn’t sniff the QB.

While there is still time for me to be proven wrong, I said that the red flag warning signs were there: 1. Mediocre player wanting top money, 2. Preoccupied with “getting paid” 3. Ran his head like Dez. 4. Never really played up to the expectations. 5. Held the team hostage (even to his own performance detriment).

The “odds” of this contract being a “rue” sort of contract from its inception were overwhelmingly high. You don’t pay Mack money to anyone other than Mack. We are getting “bent” on this contract so far, and unfortunately I expect that to continue.

Jerry should have stuck to his guns on this one.
We may rue the Elliott contract at some point too (because of similar warning signs) but my best guess is no where near the rue on Tank’s will be.

We are also probably going to rue not paying Dak and getting it over with long before now.

This offseason would cost $37million.

2021: $15 million
2022: $10 million

2021 would actually save like $7mill (as opposed to his salary cap), but you flushed 15.

2022 is like a $14mill savings, that's the first real out.

Flushing the 1st rounder on Taco and the 2nd on Gregory are big reasons why Lawrence got paid. Draft picks are important.

He said all the right things before getting his payday though, ya know? I’m pretty shocked that he gave up and got as comfortable as he has
