Name One Thing This Defense Does Well

When does the defense take any blame? They have it made. Don't do anything at all except force a few punts and FGs here and there but never actually leave a mark on the game. And they are patted on the back. All 3 phases have their roles. Special teams/defense has been putrid around here for years. But rarely any blame goes to them. Offense takes it all.

OL does have issues, yes. But how about the DL? God awful. Secondary? Terrible. Linebacking? Bad.

Go look at the Patriots defense. Brady and that offense has been stuck in mud this whole season but their defense has stepped up big time and helps out to the point where they are big causes for wins this year. We ask our offense to do 100% of the work load while the defense and special teams sits back and does nothing. They never create field position or change momentum. Every dang week we see opposing offenses just do whatever they want on offense with little to no resistance. Casually drive the ball down our throats.

I'm not saying don't blame the defense. I'm saying don't blame the defense entirely that's ridiculous

You're going to blame the entire defense because the middle of the defense line. Like you said this all three phases. Backfield linebackers line.

This offense always has a daunting task in front of it and that is to drive the ball the length every dang time.

This secondary after playing the likes of Eli, Keenum, Rosen/Fitz, Darnold, we have one single interception. And that was off a dropped pass deflection by Tedd Ginn. We are at the bottom of the league year after year in interceptions.

I might be missing something so someone help me out.

Maybe if the offense played better the defense would look better. Are you truly blaming one side of the ball here last time I heard it's called a team

In all fairness, why did so many tout this D so much during the off season and think it was going to be the difference maker? I didn't see it. Quinn was a nice addition but they were a mid level D the previous season and haven't been good at turnovers since 2014. They didn't get pressure enough, they played BDBD and still broke.

Many assumed the players that looked good, Smith, LVE, Collins and the Woods would get better. They got gutted in LA, what did they do to fix that? Draft Hill because Marinelli had a relationship with his former HC and developed one with the player?

Booger and Garrett like Marinelli, and I do to as a man. But I've not seen it as a coach and still don't get Richard. I can't get my head past the fact his former HC, a D guy, didn't want him to rebuild their D.

The definition of coaching is putting your players into their best possible situation to succeed. Well, something doesn't fit. It's either coaching or talent or sadly, both.

And I am not ragging on those that were positive about the D. As fans, we are easy self sells and look for the opportunity to do that. Just like some have sold themselves that the next HC, should there be one next year, will be better and more successful than this one.

Maybe if the defense didn’t take so damn long the offense could get the ball back. Have you looked at time of possession? Ever since we started losing, our time of possession has shot down. Our opponents get anywhere from 5-10 more minutes with the ball than we do. That’s one or two drives worth that could end in TD’s or at least a field goal for our offense but NOOOOOO “bend but don’t break” mentality is here to save the day!

The defense stinks.

They are currently 25th in team defense at Football Outsiders. That's pathetic.

And it's due to crap coordinating and crap talent at key positions like DT.

Let's see. Our Boys’ D gave up 338 passing yards to a second year QB who by chance just played his second game of the year on Jerry's birthday.

Impressive to say the least. They did that VERY WELL.
